The discussion of this rAgA started when Violinist Sh. Kumaresh came up with a rAgA for our PM aptly named "mOdi", which was actually dEsAkshi (meaningful name aside, this makes it the second patriotic raga of the day).
So this is how it goes:
Aro : S R2 G3 P D2 S
Avaro : S N2 D P (D2 N2 P) M1 G3 R2 S -- bilahari with N2 instead of N3
There are two compositions in this rAgA. The first one is OVK's santatam aham sEvE (from his navAvarNa kriti set - it's an amazing composition) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM2S1hNJpsk

There is also a composition of Maharaja Swati Tirunal in this raga - saraseeruha nAbha

This rAgA is actually very old, going back to the time of Purandaradasa, and he has a geetham in this rAgA .
There was also a discussion on how come some texts actually placed it under shUlini (35th mela, in which case it would have a R3) and what was the actual form of this rAgA. Unfortunately the further back you look in time, the murkier the woods get, so this is what we have with us today - dEsakshi alias mOdi.
Chitraveena Ravikiran's class on this rAgA here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C62vRh2QWg8
So more on this from the other thread. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=29951

Re: dEsAkshi
That must be a new world record Lakshman!! The next highest contender is the 30 Shankarabharanam kritis of Thyagaraja...
