Pranams everyone.
I have recently heard the song bAlAmbikAyA in kAnadA. But I also heard that MD has not created compositions in kAnadA. I have also found a thread where the kriti is reported as karnataka kapi. Kindly give any clarifications

Re: Raga of BAlAmbikAyA param nahi re
hi,
dikshitar has composed krithis in both kAnaDa and karNATaka kApi ragams.
bAlAmbikAyAH paraM-kAnaDa
viSvESvarO rakshatu-kAnaDa
SrI mahArAjnI-karNATaka kApi
vEnkaTAcala patE-karNATaka kApi
vIra hanumatE-karNATaka kApi
(source: http://guru-guha.blogspot.com/)
the confusion is created by these 2 ragams as they are allied ragams and almost sound the same.
in a few recordings we might get confused between the these 2 ragams (hard in finding kapi or kanada).
and some time the re-tunings are also possible.
for that instance, vIra hanumatE is widely sung in kanada instead of karNATaka kApi
and its kapi recordings are rare.
thanks,
ajay simha
