Why are certain ragas called similar names?

What is the similarity that is there in these ragas which have similar names such as gowla (Mayamalavagowla, Kedaragowla, Kannadagowla, Reetigowla, etc.), Bhairavi (Bhairavi, Ananda Bhairavi, Sindhu Bhairavi, Vasanta Bhairavi, etc.), Shuddha (Shuddha Saveri, Shuddha Dhanyasi, Shuddha Hindolam, Shuddha Vasanta, etc.) and Karnataka (Karnataka Shuddha Saveri, Karnataka Devagandhari, etc.)?

Why are certain people called by similar names ?
Such as Sakararaman , Kothandaraman , Kalyanaraman , Pattabiraman , Sitharaman ?
They need not be relatives too .
They're called so because they're South Indian .
You can create your own raga and name it Shudha abc or xyzgowlai.

As there are no ground rules for nomenclature of ragas, it's hard to explain.

Here the 'shuddha' some times can mean,
avoid the anya swarams/ vakra sancharams
Inturn making the ragam symmetric like audava- audava and etc (There can be exceptions too)

And 'Karnataka' prefix could have been used as a demarkation between uttara bharatiya and dakshina bharatiya Sangeetha paddhathis/ragas.
(Which today might not make a much logical sense)

RKP tries to decipher the origin of raga name of MMG

If we take the Mayamalavagowla RKP says in those days a raga like MMG could not have been there and Purandaradasar might have created it for abhayasa gaana.
And could have named it as malava-gowla.
Indicating that this might be a blend of flavours (melodies) of malava and Gowda janapadhas
Or the functioning raga (prachalitha raga) between these 2 janapadhas.

So the other gowla's must have followed this trend
