Recently i had a chance to listen to Bhargavi, a young and upcoming artiste at Bhrama gana sabha.
This was the first time i had been to one of her kutcheryies and was very impressed with her performance.she started with the sahana varnam , karuninpa which was apt for the evening and carried on with sahranu sidhi vinayaka. i was particularly moved by her varali alapanai which was beautiful, swift and with few repetitions,which showed her unique creative talent. The ragas that she chose for the evening were brilliant and showed a lot of contrast. Dayara, a composition of saint Thyagaraja in Ganavaridhi was wonderful as not many artistes sing such rare master pieces. A thillana in kalyanavasantham was brilliant and was a exciting finish for a beautiful performance.
The mridhangam and violin gave an equally good performance and kept the kutchery on high gear.
