Saketaraman presented a wonderful concert for the Samarpanam - thematic festival of Carnatica.
After the brgada varnam , Saketaraman set the mood by a wonderful rendering of rA rA mA in asaveri with around of swarams. The kApi alapanai was sweet and the kriti was well sung. The Anandabairavi that followed was the best of the lot and the kriti was beautifully sung bring out the full grandeour of the raga and kriti.
Bhairavi alapana was very good but the selection the krirti was a bit of let down. A heavy weight kriti would have been more fulfilling. Saketaraman rounded of with Kaliyuga varadan and another song in sindubairavi.
Mysore Srikanth was good but sounded rough in a few places. Balaji was brillinat throughout.
A fine example of how to plan a two hour concert rich in all aspects.

Rajumds:
I also wished if Saket could have sung "Intha sowkhya" in kaapi, as you have mentioned in the list. However, he sang "Mee valla guna dosha". Also the sindhu bhairavi song was " Mandhirkkugandhadu murugan".
Thanks for the reivew though, I would beg to differ with you on Kaapi and Ananda bhairavi and what you mentioned regarding main piece. I have been following Saket's concert for some time now. Compared to many other previous concerts, this was relatively "lack lustre" till he sang the main piece in Bhairavi, "Yaaro ivar yaaro" which is when he came back to his elements.
The theme of the concert was "Bhaashanga Raagas" (quite interesting) as announced by Saket in the middle (maybe prompted by the violinist to announce it, as one could see Srikanth whispering to him before he announced)
In Kaapi and Ananda bhairavi aalapanas, Saket was very mediocre. Infact Mysore Srikanth played brilliantly in these two aalaapanas and therefore deservingly got bigger round of applause and more "bhesh, bhales and sabhaashs". I felt that, had Saket selected "Intha sowkhya" and "O Jagadambha", it would have been more effective in that occasion, however, it is my personal choice, and it is artist's prerogative as to what he chooses to sing in a concert..
Srikanth as I said was brilliant in Kaapi and Ananda Bhairavi aalapanas, and I tend to think maybe since he scored better in these two rounds, Saket chose not to give him the final rounds in the niraval and swara in main piece after his own rounds, and straight left it to Balaji for Tani..
Shri Trivandrum Balaji's mrudangam playing was excellent, and he very much reminded of his illustrious Guru and this year's Kalanidhi honoured great Shri Palakkad Raghu in his playing style and gumikis, especially in the Niraval of Yaaro ivar main piece in Bhairavi and in the Tani thereafter...
Overall it was a good concert and it was heartening to see the Swamy's hall fully occupied (would it have been partly because of the next concert of RKS/Ravi kiran duo??) and the youngster drawing crowds in his concerts, but he could have done much better, atleast the expectations from him are higher...
I'm sure there were other members of Rasikas.org also present there, may be they could also share some views
