This concert was for 2 hours and 20 minutes and it was an excellent to outstanding concert. What was just good is the opening tooran's sArangA krithi where the rendition was not as great as the swaras. Also the reetigowlai janani ninuvinA that was sung in a vilambakAla mode could have been presented with more weight in few sangathis(perhaps I have heard SSI too many times...) .

The famous kOluru padhigam viruththam "veyuru thOli pangan" was brilliant where in at few phrases in the viruththam , he sang with longer akarams , certainly great breath control. The krithi kAyarOhanEsam was presented very leisurely with his diction perfect .

The chArukEsi had a distinct manOdharmam starting clearly avoiding all traces of sarasAngi .The alApanai was more in line with TNR nAdaswara bhAni , not the usual mmi style .The krithi was presented brilliantly with an outstanding neraval for full 10 minutes, shruthi suddham was perfect .The swaras were presented very well being a 2hour + concert he had to cut short (I guess). The varAli start was in the anupallavi ,the swaras were rendered brilliantly in sarvalaghu fashion one does not hear too often hear a varAli as a pre main filler.

The ninnu vinA which IMO is more an instumentalist delight was presented aesthetically , there were lot of mini neraval tit for tat exchanges with the violinist at that apt anupallavi line " kanulaku nI sogasentO".

Today's concert had a brilliant presentation of kAnaDA as a main .The kAnadA rAga alApanai had a different PiDi and was presented with great aesthetics , the krithi sukhi evarO had the right speed . Having heard a lot of kAnadA swaras from mmi,tvs and also from suryaprakAsh , the swara patterns that he presented was manOdharmam at its best .The sarvalaghu swaras was to me the highlight of the concert , total on spot manOdharmam .

The last viruththam had alternate lines that he composed on Lord Vishnu and Lord murugAn and was presented brilliantly for 15 minutes. All rAgas were excellent in particular the ending phrase karthikeyanai padA vazhiLLai?? in kApi was brilliantly presented(All musicians incidentally in a viruththam always sing kApi rAgam little longer) . He continued and ended in Somu's ninaikAda neramiLLai in rAgeshri .

The violinist rAghavendra rao played very good . THe mridangist was just good , perhaps he was pausing at lot of places and his sarvalaghu support was not continous . mOrsing was a bit of nightmare in shruthi till the first half, especially I heard in few places the violinist and morsing returns were not gelling well.
