Couldn't stay for the entire concert but what I stayed for was wonderful. Superb renditions of Nayaki and
Kalyani (unfortunately couldn't catch the name of the composition, it was a tamil kriti) and a beautiful
alapana of Sahana, with equally emotive replies from RKS on violin. Giripai was rendered in a slightly
faster kalapramana than the legendary MDR version, but this kalapramana has its own charm. The rare
Dikshitar vivadi asampurna mela kriti, though short in length, was a nice surprise and beautifully rendered. Very nice
swarams for Sindhu Ramakriya, Kalyani and Sahana - the last especially beautifully constructed without
compromising the bhava of the raga in the least, and ably supported by Sriram Kumar. I had to leave after
the thani, which featured some nice patterns, and good sound production from both artists. Caught a quickfire,
crisp rendition of GNB's Kamala Charane as I was leaving. Overall a very nice classical concert, with
Nayaki and Sahana being the highlights for me (but then Ranganayakam and Giripai are such masterpieces
that it's hard not to be biased).
