Pete not only studies tabla but has also, I believe given a mridangam arrangetram. He learnt mridangam from Karaikudi Krishnamurthy in London.

On top of all that, he is an experienced western and world percussion player: a real musician, a real pro.

One of the few 'fusion' programs I have ever totally enjoyed involved him with his tabla guruji, Sharda Sahai, Balachandar, my teacher on mridangam, and a guy producing amazing sounds from a fretless electric bass guitar. Stunning, exciting music.

I was blessed that evening, indeed, and not being a great one for fusion, it came as a wonderful surprise :)

Perhaps it might be a rare co-incidence.

Thank you, Cool. Very enjoyable.
As for TNS, the spice turned out to be a feast. Great stuff. I take back my word about not favoring a heaping helping of rAgAs in a pallavi (in another thread) ! Rendered this way, I can go on listening.
Such a gift package!
