Hardly 15 people in Kalarasana’s gaping auditorium. Having heard the artiste unfailingly turn out soul stirring stuff, one fails to comprehend the response of the audience. Brilliant throughout, with memorable essays of Mohanam Pantuvarali and Kiravani in that supple bass voice which is so endearing in its fallibility. Ramanatham was a grand affair and the RTP was in the top 3 I have heard this season. Anuloma and tisram in 2 speeds were rendered and the dicey solkattu easily got the better of me. Swara-prastaras were electric but had the unfortunate side effect of sending rats scurrying around the auditorium.
Ganesh Prasad was great on the violin and was equal to Sangeetha’s laya prowess. Balaji’s accompaniment was very intelligent but diversionary at times, one felt. Khandam was presented in the tani which was concluded with a 2 avartha korvai. Guruprasad kept up well.
