A good concert with offbeat selections. Gitarthamu was chosen as main because of Hanumat Jayanti. Surprise package was the lovely alapana of Kuntalavarali, with a brief round of swarams, for good measure. Asthika Samajam Narasimhan gave his usual speech peppered with historical anecdotes. Though he may appear long-winded, his speeches have a quaint charm with his chaste Tamil idioms!

By the way, Narasimhan conducts a Tyagaraja aradhana every year. This yr it's on Jan 13th (I'm pretty sure). In addition to the music, there is a delicious free sappadu! For rasikas wanting to make a donation to a good musical cause, I would thoroughly recommend Narasimhan and his organization. He has been a tireless music lover who nurtured music with a lot of hardship, going door-to-door to make collections. He is one of those organizers for whom many top-ranking musicians perform virtually for the proverbial 'thenga moodi' - knowing his commitment to the art.

PS - I am not personally connected either with Narasimhan or Asthika Samajam. Just wanted to highlight a worthy cause to the good folks of this forum.
