Late to miss the first varnam( think it was kEdaragowlai). Smt GV started with her rich melliflous voice in gowlai , though her music was bit drowned by the percussion and the violinist for almost the whole krithi.She continued with an excellent alApana in saraswathi. Her krithi rendition with neraval was excellent . Her swaras in saraswathi was quite detailed , but just felt that her plans to make it more detailed was somewhat short circuited by the violinist playing little too early the finishing swaras.
The sAveri was just good . The next alApanai was very good even though for quite few rAga phrases I connected sudda sAveri lakshya in ArAbi. The caala kallaaDu krithi was sung in its perfect overdrive mode , the entire rendition was excellent particularly the swaras in Arabi was uplifting the concert quality. A rare jujavali was just ok.
Whenever I have attended her concerts , I have mostly heard a bhairavi main from her. It was again a grand bhairavi with her excellent vocal finesse in alApanai, the krithi rendition gelled very well after a very good play by MA Krishnaswamy. The neraval was just good and the swaras was very good.
Her tukkadas had a rich emotive appeal in bhAgeshri and yamunA kalyAni, but her brindAvana sAranga was bit rushed and I felt it she could have added more lakshya alankAram. Loved her durgA rendition , the thillAnA was dampening the concert quality and was just ok.
MA krishnaswamy played very good particularly his bhairavi was the best. neyveli nArayanan had bountiful of strokes , most of it clicked but few did not gel that well with the flow of the singer. KVG played very minimally ,their tani was just ok.Overall a very good concert.
