I'm hearing this artiste after quite some time. Starting with Meru Samana in a TNS style, Gayathri gave a good concert. The Slokam preceding it was a Vandanam to Sri Thyagarajar apparently. All Krithis were Thyagaraja pieces befitting the occasion. The Varali Pancharathnam was sung well. The Mridangam could have been a bit more sensitive here. Bilahari was sung at a quick pace and then Mukhari was elaborated very well. The Neraval and Swarams were imaginative. Liked the Neraval especially. Then relatively rare pieces in Ramapriya and Vagulabharanam - the 14th Melakartha (the latter was announced). Sankarabharanam was sung in detail for about 15 minutes. Maybe the violinist could have played a slightly shorter version. Swarams were well rendered. The Tani was good with Sree Sundar Kumar playing some nice patterns as well. Kapi and Nadanamakriya are always soulful Ragams to take up and they provided a good finish. The Mangalam in Ragamalika was novel as well. A nice concert with a mix of popular and lesser heard Krithis. The voice was good throughout and had a good reach in the upper octaves.
