A very memorable concert for Trichy carnatic music lovers which was held on behalf of thyagaraja Aradhana @ Goradha mUlai,vadakku chittirai veedhi,Srirangam.
The concert started by 7.00 pm with crisp telisi rama with interesting kalpana swarams in its beautiful kalpana swaram. From the beginning his voice was very good.Then he sang apparama bhakthi and many expected there would be some swarams but he switched over to ritigoula alapana which was good and short followed by nannu vidachi in very leisurely way.Next was the yadukula kambhodi alapana which was very very excellent with many new sangathis and the song adi gAdhu.The swaram for this song was at the pallavi line with many rounds of sarvalaghu swarams.
Next was the grand bhairavi in which various possibilities of the raga was shown and it took over 10 min of alapana and nearly 6-7 min of violin return which was also good and the song upacharamu followed by niraval and swaram at vAgidane padhilamugA. Next was the filler krupaju chutaku.
The next piece which was the main of the concert was nannu palimpa. The essay of mohanam by sanjay was excellent which took nearly 15 min and sriram kumar's raga delination was nearly 8-9 min. There were surprising neraval and swaras at "karamuna shara kOdanda" which mostly in madurai mani iyer pattern like repeating the swaras at Da Da Da, PaPaPa, etc., and then the tani by arun prakash which was good. But the morsing was just ok.
Then came the thukkadas session which was mostly of rasikas request.
marukelara was good and then the viruttam followed by innamum oru thalam in behag which was good. Then the viruttam in bAgeshri was excellent and the song nanda thanaya followed.
Next was mukthi alikkum thiru was in senchurutti and then 'thirisila giriyAr' which also resembled similar to senchurutti.It was sang in praise and about Trichy. And finally was the jayadeva ashtapathi nija gAdasA in sindhu bhairavi and concluded with the raga shade of surutti. The concert was over by 9.55pm.
A very excellent concert from sanjay once again and the accompanients were also good. Sriramkumar accompanying sanjay at all places and at the same way showed his ability when he was given the chance. Arun prakash was also very sopportive and his beats were also good to make a concert very enjoyable. The morsing was just ok.
