A serene concert held in the prakAram of this wonderful temple in far-flung Dombivli. It was very nice to sit right in front of the small stage with 'jamakALams' spread all around. Brought back great memories of my childhood attending so many concerts in this atmosphere.

Sri Vijay Siva provided, as his his forte, serene, reposeful, dignified and bhAvA-laden music The highlights for me were the brisk latAngi suite, the lovely rendition of the sankarAbharaNam kriti, the beautiful viruttam before Asai mukham and the absolutely perfect sruti alignment throughout. His two-minute sketch of jONpuri made the 1.5 hour drive from my home worthwhile.

The absolute best though, was ranga nAyakam. Sri Vijay Siva's Guru, Sangita Kalanidhi Sri DKJ made this krithi his own and Sri Vijay Siva rendered it in similar style. However, the brief slOka before that [Could anyone provide the lyrics? A Google search did not help] was a heartfelt personal touch and provided a great intro to this grand krithi.

Sri Chandramauli's kiravANi was outstanding. His support was melodious throughout. Sri A.S. Ranganathan, who I am hearing for the first time, played very well. His tani was compact and neat and his following for songs was to-the-point and enhanced the concert greatly.

I scribbled down the words for the slOka - someone please proof-read.

'vimAnam praNavAkAram vEdatsangham mahadbhutam
shriranga dhAma vibhavan praNavArtha prakAshinam
anantAnanda CidrUpam agnAnadvAnta bhAskaram
shri nAyaki manOllAsam bhAvayE ranganAyakam'

How beautiful and appropriate. rAgA name and the starting words of the song!

Great concert... Awsome songlist, with a good mix of ragams, composers, taalams. I would like to know more details on slokam before nayaki song... Also note that starting line also conincide with starting line of charanam in the keerthana (praNavAkAra divya vimAnaM)

Lovely concert - wish this comes out as a commercial release!

#4: I think that the nereval line should be 'vEga nannu brOvumani ento ninnu vEDukoNTinayyA venkaTEsha iTu' (the bolded word should not be split) - meaning, 'how many times (entO) have I not pleaded (vEDukoNTini) with you (ninnu) thus (iTu) my Lord (ayyA) venkaTESA - to please protect (brOvumani) me (nannu) quickly/in a timely fashion (vEga)'

A typical 'serene, dignified, bhAvA-laden' concert of Siva, no doubt.
'annai jAnaki vandALE!' used to be sung in sAvEri too.

Kannan Varugindra Neram is a composition of Oothukkadu, rendered as a Kavadi Chindu.
