Vijay Siva - Vocal
Charulata Ramanujam - Violin
Neyveli Narayanan - Mridangam
Dayanand Mohite - Ghatam

Song List as I remember : (May have missed out a song or two)

1) Therathiyagaradha-Gowlipantu-Thyagaraja

2) Saketa Nagara Natha - Harikamboji – Mysore Sadasiva Rao (N,S)

3)Rave Himagiri - Todi – Syama Sastry

4)Brovabarama – Bahudari - Thyagaraja (RNS)

5)Pakkala Nilabadi - Karaharapriya - Thyagaraja (RNST)

6)Yadava Nee Ba – Purandaradasa

7)Ara Amudhe Arase – Thayumanavar

8)Shanti Nilava Vendum.- Sethumadhava Rao

9)Mangalam

Vijay was truly in sublime form. Therdiyagaradha was sung with so much Bhava.
Rave Himagiri was so movingly rendered that I could see a very senior person , remove his glasses , take a handkerchief and wipe his tears!

Brovabarama had a wonderful session of Swaras from Vijay and Charulata , who was extremely good in her repartee!

Pakkala Nila Badi was the icing on the cake. The raga was wonderfully explored. In the Taara Sthayi , it rained Bhrigas all along the way. Charulata's response was so soul stirring that one could see Vijay closing his eyes and appreciating intently.

Neyveli Narayanan and Dayanand Mohite were in excellent form and the Tani was superb.

After the concert , Prof NVC Swamy , Dean of SVYASA (and former director of IIT Madras - Retd ) said that while listening to Vijay on that day reminded him of MDR , Maharajapuram Santhanam , DKJ , Pandit Jasraj and finally Paul Robeson ! (Western singer , who sang , Old Man River)

Truly a great tribute and without any doubt an outstanding concert.

I missed this concert. Good song selections even if something is missed out.
Rave himagiri .... it is a good swarajathi. Never heard anyone sing except TMK and also his album.
By the way what is SVYASA and is there anymore concerts there. May be I am late?

SVYASA is the Swami Vivekananada Yoga University (Deemed University) also known as Prashanti .

Unfortunately since Jigani is a quite a distance from city, it is difficult for residents of Bangalore to commute. And yes, there are no more concerts here at SVYASA for now. If there are any I shall let you know .

Cienu,

Do you live in Jigani? It is by Anekal taluk, right by Bannarghatta National Park. If you do, it would be nice to get to know you.

Cienu,
A very nice review.
Vijay Siva does create that serene atmosphere with his singing. Did he sing yAdava nI bA in khAmbOji?
Charulatha is a treat when it comes to accompanying. Didn't she play for Radha Viswanathan when the latter gave a short concert after she was honored at the venue?

Ravi,
nilabaDi is correct. paDi too, I suppose. When the two words combine, ba sound is used.

Sankirnam,

In Pakkala Nilabadi , the Neraval and Swaram were done at Manasuna Dalaci Me Maraciyunnara.

mahesh3,

I live in Bannerghatta Road , but work in Jigani , which is an industrial township in Anekal Taluk . Where are you put up?

Arasi,

Vijay Siva sang Yadava Nee Ba in Abheri (Karnataka Devagandhari) and yes Charulata had a busy schedule in SVYASA. She accompanied Smt Radha on 15th , Sowmya on 16th and Vijay Siva on 17th.
