The Rama Navami Cultural festival in Hyderabad began on April 5,2008 by a grand carnatic vocal recital by S.Mahathi.Mahathi is a noted Carnatic vocalist as well as a film playback singer.She performed for the first time yesterday in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad
She was accompanied on the violin by Sri Melakkaveri Thyagarajan,on the Mridangam by Sri Varadhan and on the Kanjira by K.V.Gopalakrishnan

As it was a Rama Navami concert...most of the krithis were on Lord Rama...Mahathi began with brisk "Mahaganapathim" with a wonderful swarakalpana.Then she wen on for OVK's number in Khamas.the third item was "Saga varamum"in Sudha hindolam,even that was a pleasing number
The Alapana of Hamsanaadam filled the atmosphere with a melodius effect.OKV's Kalyana Rama was done in a great way,even the Swarakalpana was good."Telisi Rama" in Poornachandrika is a real wonderful krithi and Mahathi's melliflous voice made the composition sound very good.Then came Papanasam Sivan's famous "Naan oru Vilayattu".The main item of the evening was Thodi ragam.The Alapana of the Raga showed brilliance of the artiste."Enduku Daya RAdura" of thyagaraja was the main item of the evening.The neraval and Swarakalpana at " thyagaraja Vinutha" was spellbound.The Thaniavarthanam by Varadhan and K.V Gopalakrishnan was really good.Later came many songs in thukkadas part.Mahathi is blessed with a wonderful voice which was the biggest attribute.It was a wonderful concert on the whole.Melakkaver Thyagarajan gave able support on the violin.[please forgive my moistakes in this post]
