1)Shlokam followed by Varana Mukha – Hamsadhwani – S
2)Shri Sharadamba – Khamas – S
3)Gurulekha Etuvanti – Gowrimanohari – ANS
4)Manavyala – Nalinakanthi
5)Shlokam followed by Shringeri Nayike – Arabhi – S
6)Ethavunara – Kalyani – ANST

I had to leave at this point.

Hamsadhwani was a good start. Gowrimanohari had a few repetitive Prayogams. The violinist’s version had some Kharaharapriya-ish phrases. Manavyala was a good filler. The Arabhi Dikshithar Krithi was good. The main Kalyani was a bit of a disappointment. The Alapanai was for only about 6.5 minutes. The violinist’s return was for 6 minutes-clearly disproportionate. The Krithi was rendered well. A 6 minute Alapanai for main, somehow, seems to be insufficient. The violinist had good responses to play during Swarams but his Ragam versions could have been better and succinct. The Mrudangam, to me, left a lot to be desired. Kanjira was good.
