This has been discussed in this forum before. Anyway, just thought of sharing it again. It feels really nice to observe CM being included as part of in-flight entertainment. I had a good experience listening to three clips of Semmangudi Mama - Deva Deva (Mayamalava Gowlai), O Rangasayee (Kambhoji) and Sharavanabhava (Shanmukhapriya). The note said it was from a concert with SSI being accompanied by Dr L Shankar and Shri Palghat Mani Iyer. But, this was the only package they had to offer under CM :( Anyway, good to know that atleast this is being included!

Must have been a JetLite Trip.I heard it ,too during a 8pm flight from Mumbai to Chennai. In Fact it offers a wide choice of Hindusthani too.

Yes. It was a Mumbai-Chennai Jet Airways Flight.
Cool ji,
Yes, Hindusthani was there as well. But if I remember right, there were not too many choices-only Chaurasia's flute and a rendition by Bombay Jayashri. Am not too sure though.

The SSI CD has been played for over 6 months now! BTW there are other pieces as well - the first option in the menu is a mixed CM/Hm fare with Sudha, Bombay Jayasri,Mandolin and Nityasree featured among others. Hindustani includes Bhimsen's Jog Kauns and 4-5 ragas of Jasraj in Dhrupad style...

In any case, far better than Kingfisher which plays no Indian classical music at all.

My Ipod is a tale in itself Ravi...I'll leave that for some other time....besides it's always a little more interesting when you don't know what's on offer beforehand...although with Jet the novelty is rapidly wearing off...

Very nice to hear that CM is played instead of the usual super bore stuff, especially the choice of jAmbhavan SSI(my all time second favourite) being played is most apt for CM. Is all three songs played in full. It should be lovely to hear a 10 minute deva deva during takeoff , a 1 hour O rangasayee in mid air and another 10 minutes saravana bhava during landing . I would also love just like SSI , even my other top favourite mmi is also played ,how about nAdatanu manisham during :) takeoff , mOhana rAma in mid :| air and shankarAbharanam note during :( landing .

Rajeshnat,
Deva Deva was for about 10 minutes with Neraval and Swarams. O Rangasayee was for about 35 min or so with Alapanai, Neraval and Swaram and Sharavanabhava for about 5 min. Indeed was nice to listen.
Coolji,
That would require a rather long flight :)

Jet had the same selection on London-Bombay flights too-problem is they don't update it often enough. They should do that or keep adding to the list. But it's a welcome change to have the choice to listen to classical music and they should be commended for that.
