Hello everyone,

I'd really appreciate if anybody can help me with the lyrics and meaning of Sri Lakshmi rave ma intiki and the Mangalam song (given in the link below).

Here are the links for the songs. Some words seem to be unclear. Also is Lakshmi rave ma intiki in Mayamalavagoulai? and Mangalam-Arabhi?

Thanks.

Nandy

Hello kmrasikaji,

Just another question.

Lakshmi rave ma intiki-Kannada? composer?
Mangalam- Tamil, composer?

Nandy,

lakshmI rAvE mA inTiki - Telugu, not Kannada

Thanks rshankar.

That's what I thought too. But in Musicindiaonline and everywhere on the Internet, they seem to think it is Kannada. Probably, we need to e-mail them then.

kmrasika,

For mangalam song in Surutti, you mean "Tishra Nadai adhi thalam"?

Thanks.

Nandy,

Here is the meaning for the mangaLam which is in tamizh.
rAgam: suraTi tALam: tiShraM

p. mangaLam jaya mangaLam mahA lakshmiki mangaLam

Auspiciousness (mangaLam, jaya mangaLam) to the ever-auspicious one (mahA lakSmikku)!

a. mangaLam rukmiNi mAdhava ShrI hari pankaja lOcana parabrahma svarUpikki

Auspiciousness to the lotus (pankaja) eyed (lOcana) embodiment (svarUpi) of the supreme lord (para brahma), SrI krishNa (mAdhava SrI harI) accompanied by rukmiNi!

c1. ShrI varalakshmi divya vara nOnbai
AvaluDan Seyyum anbuLLa mAdarkkum

(Auspiciousness to) those loving (anbuLLa) women as well (mAdarkkum) who eagerly (AvaluDan) undertake/perform (Seyyum) ceremonial fasting and religious austerities (nOnbai) to propitiate the divine (divya) SrI varalakshmI!

c2. pulla maharishi pUrNa tavattuditta
melli padmAsani malaraDi tudippOrkku

(Auspiciousness to) those who eulogize (tudippOrkku) the lotus-like feet (malaraDi) of the delicate (melli(ya)) padmAsinI, the consort of the Lord who appeared (uditta) in response to the exhaustive/complete (pUrNa) penance (tava) of pulla mahariSi[1].

c3. varalakshmi nOnbu variShaiyAy SheyvOrkkum
mangaLam mangaLam mahAlakshmiki

(Auspiciousness to) those who observe (Seivorkkum) the varalakSmi nOnbu in continuity, every year (variSaiyAi)!

[1] - I think the reference here is to the temple in tirupullANi dedicated to perumAL, and his consorts, kalyANavalli and padmAsini.

I hope some one else will help you with the one that invites varalakSmI to the house (rAvE mA intiki).

I'm sure this is mAtA meaning "mother" as the line IINM means rouhly "May Mother be pleased with these offerings(i.e. all the services mentioned in the song)."
