I should consider myself lucky to have attended Vignesh's concert...Missed out a few krithis in the beginning...When i entered he was singing Mohanam
1. Evarura-Mohanam-Misrachap- Tyagarja
2. A new krithi is swaravardhini( Janyam of ragavardhini), a composition of his Sri Anantharaman sir.
3. Odi Baraiya- Bhairavi-Adi-Purandaradasa (R,N,S)
4. Anathudanu Ganu-Jingla-Adi-Tyagaraja
5. Sharavanabhava Shanmukha Pazhanimalai Vasa- Shanmukhapriya-Tisra Triputa-RTP Ragamalika Swarams- DWijavanthi, Vasanthi, Behag.
6. Bhajan
7. Thillana-Sivaranjani-Adi
8. Mangalm-Kurunji-Adi-Bhadrachala Ramadas

A wonderful concert right from the beginning. His rendition of Evarura brought out the beauty of Mohanam. When he began bhairavi, i though this would be the main piece. But nevertheless that doesn't take away from his crisp alapana and neraval in the charanam. What really mesmerised me was his briga oriented music. I was amazed that at this age VIgnesh showed so much maturity in handling the ragas and the krithis. Shanmukhapriya was just perfect. His Tanam rendition was up to the mark. I think those who attended the concert would accept that it was technically perfect. By now it was already two and half hours but the audience i am sure was longing for more...Do watch him out..He is really talented..Just a small observation..I felt he was hurrying a bit during the alapana...He can still explore in the higher octaves...But not taking away anything from today's wonderful performance....His strength is his strong base voice....All the best... Coming to the accompanists he was accompanied by Shivakumar on the violin..He was equally good and rose to the occassion.. I didn't take a note on who were on the Mridangam and the Kanjira...But both them did a good job..Vignesh should consider himself lucky to have performed to a wonderful audience...No one got up till the end and in the audience some of the senior vidwans of Mumbai...

His Guru is Palghat Sri T.S. Anantharaman, popularly known as Anantharama Bhagavathar - one of the senior-most and highly respected teachers of Mumbai.

hello to all. Let me introduce myself as Gokul Chandramouli, Vignesh's friend and Sriranjani Santhanagopalan's cousin. Yesterday Vignesh's concert was, in short, out of the world. His Bhairavi alapana was just excellent. Hope to listen to more of such good music!

P.S. I request all mumbai members of this forum to try to make it to Sriranjani's programme at the same venue next month on Sunday,July 20. She will be accompanied by Shri Ravi Anantharaman on the violin and Shri. Shankaranarayanan on the Mrudangam

tyagarajadasa,
You are Sriranjini's cousin, but surely, her mother and father should be
related to you too! I am kidding! Of course, it is about your cousin's concert, so you took that route, I guess!

Oh please prashanth! why such big words??
Arasi madam, yes, you guessed right.....I took that route very much because it is Sri Ranjani's kutcheri! And she is as much my Guru as her Father!:)

Kudos to Vignesh!!! Amazing performance.... full of energy:)
Another concert that rasikas can watch out for is that of Priya Suresh at the Jasubhai Hall (Shanmukhananda) on 19th July, 2008. Yet another talented singer from Mumbai.
