Shri RK Srikantan - Vocal
Shri Ramakanth - Vocal Support
Shri Ravikiran - Chitravina
Shri Umayalpuram Sivaraman - Mrudangam
Shri Karthik - Ghatam

1) Kanakangi - Thodi Ata Tala Varnam - O
2) Shri Mahaganapathim - Nattai - OS
3) Shobhillu - Jaganmohini - S
4) Elani Dayaradu Atana - A
5) Etula Brovu - Chakravakam - ANS
6) Nee Vada Ne Gana - Saranga - O
7) Jaya Jaya Padmanabha Murare - Sarasangi - AS
8) Vara Narada - Vijayashri
9) Paridanmichithe - Bilahari - ANST
10) Didn't note
11) Mangalam

It was a very good concert. The Chakravakam Alapanai was really good and elaborate. The Sarasangi Krithi was well rendered too. Vijayashri was rendered at a rapid pace as a filler. Ravikiran accompanied brilliantly throughout. His Sarasangi was very nice. The main Bilahari was a bit curtailed, especially the Swarams, perhaps due to a lack of time. The Thani led by the ever-energetic UKS was good as well. Karthik gave fitting replies.

Overall, a fine concert by the veteran.

A masterclass by Ravikiran. Talk of accompanists elevating concerts, he took us all to new heights. And I don't think Ramakanth was all that bad as suggested by a few in previous reviews.

Seems to be a regular feature of Ravikiran accompanying Sri Srikantan in his concerts. I attended their concert for Carnatica last December and it was very good... The brilliance of Ravikiran surely takes Sri Srikantan's concerts to greater heights...

wow what a concert... rks mama is 88 it seems.. amazing.. even more beautiful was when uks sir said that there is nothing to get awed about this... for 8+8=16 is what his age is.... i heard this combination first at cleveland when i was there earlier this year for an official trip (though dorai mama was on mrudangam).....

seems like this is going to be the watch out combo for this season.....

RKS is exemplary. To begin a concert with Kanakangi(Thodi varnam) in itself shows his youthful zest at 88.
Hats off and I wish the younger clans draw inspiration from him.in particular his discplined life style,
unflinching faith in sampradaya .
Trinity and Dasa apart he has a repository of Kritis of vasudevacharya, swati,Pattnam,Sadashiv Rao, veena seshanna, etc rendered with equal ease.

R.K.SRIKANTAN, a living legnd.
Such a dedication. Having born at Rudrapatinam, with a highly rich patantaraa. I can't imagine what would be my position at 88. Sarasangi, bilahari and atana impreessd me a lot. chakravakam and sarasangi were handld bautifully.

A UKS Sir tani in khaNDa CApu?!?! Wow! Apart from the wonderful music of Sri Srikantan accompanied by Sri Ravikiran, this must have been a unique treat. Sri Karthik must have been his usual cheerful, supportive self also.

Sathej, Ram Do you know if this concert was recorded. Would love to hear the rendition of Kanakangi varnam in Thodi. BTW what does the "O" in your initial posting stand for.

O stands for Outline - a Ragam Outline. I have no idea if this has been recorded.

I still recall that lovely concert organised by Carnatica in Dec last by this team but i think mridangam was by Sri Srimushnam raja Rao. A recently popular combination and an amazing one at that!
