The review of TrichurBrothers in Hindu pushed me to hear them for the first time. The brothers were supported by MA Sundareshwaran - Violin his Dad Mohan -- Mridangam, Murali - Ghatam

I was late to hear the swarams of the popular ChakravAkham . KedAram was rendered very well . The Sriranjani alApana was lovely , though the swarams were not very gripping. The Dikshitar krithi Annapoorne was sung ok, felt the brothers could have slowed a little to bring more expression that SAma typically brings.
The OVK krithi was sung quite well though the brothers kept my inside head swinging between Hindolam and Jayanthashri, that too in the first half of the krithi .
MAlavi was fast,racy and good . The kalyAni RAga alApana was lovely and very complete . The Neraval did dip the concert quality as it was not detailed , but the swarams was quite good.
The DArbari KAnada was very good . The slokham in the lines "Vasudeva Sutham Devam"and the Jayadeva was outstanding to me. The rAga was somewhat like Viswapriya to me and had a tinge of Hindustani Lalit for one of my knowledgeble accquitance , though the brothers clarified as HarichAran(Any inputs about the rAga Haricharan appreciated).
All the accompaniments were just ok.
The concert was for just 1hour and 45 minutes with Shri SVK(the owner of RAgaSudha) spoke wonderfully for another 15 minutes . Surprisingly he also instructed at the end of Tani(7:45 pm) to close the concert at 8pm . WHile I walked out asked Shri SVK as to "why you are not extending the concert atleast compensating for the time that you talked" . Shri SVK said what can I do ,"the brothers wanted to wind up at 8pm and also wanted me to talk". Since I can only speculate now as to who is responsible for reduced time , I always feel as a whole we all lose another sold 15 minutes of good music . Who knows there could have been another 2 lilting and brand new rAgas in the slokham in that 15 minutes. Overall a good concert and a very good first impression for me about the brothers.
