Whoever missed this concert - really missed it: A MOST BRILLIANT CONCERT.... Vid Ravikiran *has* without doubt *arrived* - he's no longer and 'up-and-coming' artiste - but a senior artiste in his own right.
It was to commemorate Semmangudi's anniversary
- the neraval for merusamana was par excellence - Semmangudi would've been proud to hear this. Reethigowlai alapanai stood out - it brought tears to our eyes. A not-so-often heard Kumudakriya was rendered with great vidwat. Of course - the crowning glory of the concert -"todi" - I have no words to describe it - outstanding in all aspects - the spontaneity of the audience applause and different points of the creative exploration of todi stood testimony.

However - I wish the organizers would publicize the concert more so that people could be aware of such concerts.

Must have been a very good concert.
Yes, I wish they give more publicity to concerts in Bangalore. I do not know how many of those who live nearby and would have been interested, missed Ravikiran's concert. As I have mentioned before, even the announcements in the papers are not accurate at times. While in Bangalore, I look concerts up in three newspapers, and yet, it does not work. Even mega performers are not listed sometimes. Addresses and time are not specified. The phone number given is often useless, since there aren't folks to answer the calls. Considering that Bangalore is a nightmare when it comes to reaching even familiar destinations, nothing can be more discouraging than not finding concert details in the newspapers. Word of mouth alone seems to help music lovers.
Organizers and the media should find ways to make it easier for listeners.

Ravi Kiran,
You are one of the two presenters of programs I know ,to ask about this :) Is there a possibility that a widely heard music medium like World Space can do service to rasikas by allotting a minute of free time every morning at a particular hour to quickly announce the few concerts which take place in the city? Just the main artiste, venue and the time? I have a feeling it would easily become a habit with music lovers to tune in at the appointed hour to get the information they search for. Please pass on the request to the chief and let's see what happens.. .
