Carnatica Brothers have emerged as popular duet singers. Their concert in Cleveland
on Saturday morning reflected a firm anchoring in the kritis.They packed their concert with a number of heavy kritis.The yadukulakamboji kriti Divakara Tanujam was my favorite.
The opening varnam Chalamela itself brought a dignified grace to the program. Their rendition of RTP nattaikurinji was awesome. The notable feature was the tanam followed by the pallavi.The neravals & swaras were rendered with finesse. Their creative talent displayed during neravals & kalpanaswarams were indeed impressive.
Another notable feature was the double mridangam combo. The senior percussionists made their mridangam embellishment very distinctive. The response of the violinist also was enriching. I bet it was a challenging concert for the artists to co-ordinate with the double mridangam feature.
There was an excellent understanding between the brothers as well as the accompanying artists.
