1.jAnaki pathE(??,,S) - kharaharapriyA - p.Sivan
2. nannu brOvumani ceppavE (R N)- kalyAni - BharAchalam RAmadAs
neraval at "adrija vinutuDu bhadragirIshuDu"
3A. kari kalAbA (R, NS,S) - sAveri - MD
brief neraval at "mUlAdhArA chatura pankaja madhya dhAram"
3B. tani

4. ranga bArO - mAnd -PD
5. varugalAmO - mAnji - GKB
6. gAyati vanamAli - durgA ???? - sadhAshiva brahmEndrA
7. bhujaga sayeenO nAma mangalam - yk kAmbOdhi - ST

The concert though a full bench kutcheri was only for 1 hour 40 minutes . The concert started 5 minutes early just entered half way with his kharaharapriyA and his voice appeared well settled . kalyAni alApanai was very good with though there were few sangathis that was sagging , a rare BMK popularized krithi followed .TMK was at his best , one of the finest neravals in kalyAni , he sang wonderfully in high speed fashion .

sAveri alApanai was presented quite well , one of the best numbers in sAveri was this Dikshitar's main connecting dudhi ganEsham with vinayAka chaturthi was excellent . His swaras in early half was centering beautifully in the sAveri tranquility zone , just when I wished he stayed more there , he sang fast volley of swaras , just felt possibly he could have made overall swaras little more expansive .

ranga bArO was a low key rendition , the gAyati vanamAli was nice and emotive . YK kAmbOdhi could have been sung little more slower. The missing feeling of sAveri swaras in vilambakAlam was completely offset by his wonderful top notch rendition of varugalAmO in mAnji , especially in the lines "karai kaDanthEN"

and a long silence followed by "sharanam aDaiNDEN", brilliantly :) aesthetic(what a composer GKB is???) . There was a bit major :( irritation too , TMK's loud thumping with both hands closer to mike completely drowned all the 3 performers in tani. I wish he pays more attention to it .

The accompanist were all just good, tv vAsan's idling was quite well compensated by kannan's mOrsing . Durai sir's play is not that suited to my taste , there were few taps more resembling thavil style that was nice , but to an extent there is a noticable delay that did not gel too well with TMK's rendition.

Gayati vanamali is usually sung in hamsadwani (with madhyama sruti). This was tuned by SSI.
I have also heard it sung to Yaman Kalyani by some others.

Rajesh, are you sure it wasn't one of these?

Rajesh,
Thank you for your review with the pause and all :)
ranga bArO in mAND is new to me. I have heard it in Suddha sAvEri.

gAyati in hamsadhwani and yamuna kalyani.

I have been in that mini hall many times. It IS small and not large enough for a TMK concert. There is a kind of intimacy as in a chamber concert which is nice, but again, too small a hall for TMK's concert. I bet many had to hear it istanding n the landing and the veranda.
Another thing that worries me about the hall is the combination of a lighted lamp, the end of the curtain and its swaying in the movement of a nearby fan, too close to the flame...

To the best of my knowledge it was mAnD , even though it is more often sung in suddasAvEri, but now with the new madhamA shruti bouncer , may be it could even be a mishra mAND in a bit of khara khara shruti ;)

tx, peanut butter for your hamsadhwani correction.

Arasi, I have heard TMK sing ranga baro in mand (to be honest this is the only version that I have heard).

sureshvv: Now that you ask, I am not at all sure about who tuned it. It bears much more resemblance to BMK's style, as I hum the tune in my head. Can anyone clarify?
