Please listen to this very melodious Devarnama of Purandaradas sung by the evertime great Pdt. Bhimsen Joshi in rag Jogiya (HM)
Rag Jogiya belongs to the Bhairav Thaat of HM having the same arohana &avarohana notes of rag "Saveri" of CM. But while listening it resembles more with MMG than saveri (I feel so) The song can be heard on the following link

The lyrics are also given and corrections if any are welcome.

Dr. Sakuntala narasimhan, an adept at both systems of Indian classical music,(trained by T.Brinda-Chittor etc and Hafiz Ahmed khan of the Rampur Gharana) had given a Sangeeth sarita programme for Vividh bharati in the mid 90's. she dealt with similar ragas from the Carnatic and north Indian schemes. It was recently broadcast again, last month. She too said that Jogiya(or Jogiya-nat) corresponds to Saveri.
It is my opinion that Jogiya from its sancharas, resembles Malahari the most, rather than Malavagaula or Saveri. It has more Aaroha phrases mpd-mpdmpdM etc. The Ni is an alpa swara in Jogiya, and gives a very evocative effect of bhakti-Vairagya.

The note ni is a durbala swara and the rag shines most in the sanchara dpds . The raga bhava in the phrase mdpds shift adds more beauty to this raga. Please listen to an Abhang sung by Sri. Ajit Kakde in the Warakari style in rag Jogiya. The song is "dInAmchA dayAlA aghA pAndurangA". The composer of this Abhang is Sant Kaikadi Bava. The phrase /shift DHA PA DHA SA is repeated at every end of the charanam adding something unique to this song.
