Just imagine Arasi.....early morning bath in the normal tap water...no need to heat up or any thing like that.....a cup of pure south indian, just now made coffee from the hands of my manni, a nice ironed fresh veshti, with vibuthi on the forehead, a nice cotton shirt to match, jump on the cycle, pedal along on a sedate speed, avoid that erumai madu, twist the cycle to give room for that mami making that kolam, apply the brake for the paalkaran crossing the road to deliver the milk who does not care to look at the traffic...finding room to park your cycle, ensure it is well locked, debate to yourself where to park your chappels, so that you can identify it later and at the same time ensure that it is not conspicous to be an attraction for the chappal thief....fan yourself to dry that mild perspiration from the morning exercise and at last, closing your eyes to that Saveri Varnam filling the air, your lung, your head and your senses....only chennai can give you that.....nostalgia....yes m'am....and just pure bliss......

This reminds me of a wondeful program I had witnessed in Lalbagh, Bangalore in December 2006.
It was on a sunday morning. The concert had started around 6:30 or so. It happened to be a beautiful sunny morning. It was a great experience to listen to live carnatic music in the beautiful Lalbagh surroundings.
I remeber it was a flute program (Vidvan Sarvottam, I believe). He was accompanied by N Vasudeva on Mrudanga.
I was told the program was a weekly feature, called udayarAga (or something similar).
I believe a similar program is conducted in the beautiful Cubbon Park also.

Sam,
Exactly; when I read your post, Iwas transported to Mylapore; how I would l love to be there and do all the things- not all- because, I will be the one making the coffee, and Iwould be walking and not cycling. Iwould give anything to be able to do all these. As I wrote in one of my posts earlier, I may be out of Mylapore but Mylapore is not out of me.
Feel nice to read about all this. Thanks for making me nostalgic.
