Vocal : Malladi Brothers
Violin : Vittal Ramamurthy
Mridhanagam : Manargudi Easwaran
Ghatam : Trichy Murali
The concert had already started before I entered the hall.
01. Ganapathiye karuna nidhiye -?-??
02. Manas etulo - Malayamarutam - T
03. Pahimam Sri - Janaranjani-MD
04. Kanta Chudumi - Latangi/Vachaspati - T
05. Bhogindra Shayinam - Kuntalavarali - ST
I had to leave the concert, but for the acoustics which was very bad, the concert was a stunner
interms of manodharma and classicism. Somebody who was there can fill this song list. The
accompaniment deserves mention, both Easwaran and Murali were good. For Vittal it was an usual
role.

Seriously! Among the WORST ever acoustics I've encountered in halls I've been to in my life...K.Sathyasai wrote: but for the acoustics which was very bad, the concert was a stunner

8.gOpikAmanOharam -mOhanam-Adi-Dikshitar (spurious, I've heard)
9.gOvardhanagiridhara (narayana theertha) (some rAga that Sri Nedunuri has tuned it in... sounded like a dharmavati janya, srmpns sndpmrs. Does this qualify as any named rAga?) shuddha sarang or something probably...?
10.mudddugAre yashOda

The highlight was when the speech making person said "Malladi brothers tamizhla spashTama uchcharichi pADina" or something to that effect n the fairer brother couldn't stop smiling!

Definitely not darbAri kAnaDa... As I said, Nedunauri garu has tuned it in something else...
Ppl sing it in hindOLam also...
As far as Theerthar's tarangams go, it's usually the "You like a particular raga or have discovered a new one, just sing the tarangam in it..." attitude. Not that I wish to malign anyone but there are jus so many different versions for the same sahityam...

My violin teacher when teaching me gOvardhana giri in darbAri kAnada told me, "you can play it in whatever raga you want!" And "vital ramamurthy" - priceless! I love CM people's puns, and they are really very adept at it too. Living example: Arasi (and Punarvasu and a host of other forumites as well)!
