She had everything in her favour. The Voice was vibrant and pliable moving easily between the octaves. There was no weakening of the voice in the thara stayi . Classical purity, padanthara suddha and technical excellence normally associated with any disciple of Vedavalli, was there. She sang with great confidence and Commendable Manodharma. There was good sense in not resorting to Swara Singing for each krithi.
The raga elaborations of Atana, Vachaspathi and Bhairavi were orderly and progressed on well established traditional lines. The main Bhairavi raga, was a treat fully bringing out its regal splendour. Neraval at Neela Neeraja and the
Swaras that followed were sung with great aplomb in the great cutcheri pantha. In sharp contrast, there was immense repose in the singing of the ragas for the ragamalika.
V.L. Sudarshan showed great restraint while she was elaborating the ragas and presented his engaging versions in solo play.
A.S. Ranganathan on the mridangam and Udupi Balakrishnan on the Ghatam offered sensible support. Their thani was lively.
A shaft of sunlight in themurky fusion and confusion prevailing in present day carnatic music scene.
Her Guru has every reason to be rightly proud.
