It was nice to attend the inauguration of Shanmukhananda's music archival facility this morning. A whole wing of the 2nd floor of the main building has been converted into a comfortable listening room with 8-12 booths having widescreen monitors, all linked to a central music server. Around 3000 concerts are hosted on this server with the music provided by none other than our beloved Kulkarniji and his friends Sri Krishnaprasad and Sri Ramesh of Bangalore. A simple and effective database allows one to search the meticulously-organized collection by artiste / song / venue / accompanying artiste / raga etc etc - I enjoyed a fine and long-forgotten rendition of OVK's vENu gAna ramaNa by Sri DKJ thanks to this database.
The Kanchi Seer felicitated Kulkarniji, Sri Krishnaprasad and Sri Ramesh and Sri Shankar / Sri Sury of SFAS acknowledged their contribution graciously and gratefully. Sri Shankar mentioned that 20,000 hours of music had been donated with more to come. A wonderful contribution for rasikas and students of music in Mumbai.
Kulkarniji - however much one says this, it is not enough. Thanks for all that you do for us and for your geninely selfless service to music! May your tribe increase...

I heartily congratulate Kulkarniji and his friends Shri Krishnaprasad and Shri Ramesh of Bangalore along with the authorities of Shanmukhananda for their memorable service to our music by providing such a great number of invaluable concerts along with the listening facilities for the benefit of our aspirants. amsharma

What else does one expect from a person who has karNa as part of his name. The historical KarNa donated physical wealth and our KarNa has donated mental health to millions of us!
Congratulations and all the best to KulkarNi and to Krishna prasad (who is the power house behind) as well as Ramesh (whom many of us don't know!).
I heartily second May their tribe(s) increase!

Congratulations and many thanks for your yeomen service.
I was happy to read this! I have always admired Coolji, Sri. Krishna Prasad and Sri. Ramesh for the great work they do, without seeking any recognition. I feel good that they have been recognized for the great work!
I am proud to say I have personally interacted with Coolji and Sri. K. P. I will certainly make an effort to get to know Sri. Ramesh next time I am in Bangalore.

Kji, KPji and Rameshji,
CONGRATULATIONS!
May Mumbai the rest of the world appreciate what we have for the past several years! All of them are awesome.
Kji's generosity is legendary, and I personally refer to his collection as the akshayapAtra. May the rest of the individuals who have personal collections follow their lead.
PS: Sri Krishnaprasad is none other than the one who has presented these http://www.geocities.com/cbhpub/western.html.

Kulkarni
Nice to be blessed and felicitated by the rep of Shankara!
I am sure your dad in heaven will be as pleased as the dad of KP who gets to physically witness his son being honoured. I can only think of the kuRaL (modified)
EnRapozhutirp perithuvakkum than makanai 'karNan'
enak kETTa thanthai
(A dad is much happier than at the birth of his son when he hears about his being highly charitable.)
