Hi all,

Another request.

This ia an RTP from LGJ-NR-TS-R 1971 US tour. I got it from Sangeethapriya but the link is not there now. I have uploaded to rapidshare. If it is not OK please delete the link.

http://rapidshare.com/files/178357899/09b_RTP.mp3.html

I think the pallavi ragas are Kanada, Neelambari, Bhupalam (again?), Ahiri, Hindolam, Kapi(??)

Need confirmation/correction.

thanks

Bhupalam - it is either Bowli or Revagupti ( I think it is Bowli )
kapi - it is Desh.

Rest are as you figured.

You are making me listen to some good stuff. In that Desh segment, Ramani starts 'going wild' at 24:12 with that rapid avarohana prayogam with raga bhava in tact. That type of stuff sounds especially excellent on the flute. And LGJ joins the fun and it is all 'amarkalam' after that. Very nice.

Thank you VK. Hope I am not being too much of a bother. This entire concert is excellent. Some of the good stuff that I downloaded from Sangeethapriya is no longer there. They lost some data. If you want I can upload it.

I remember my father and mother waiting to hear carnatic music on radio broadcasts from AIR Tiruchi/Madras & national programme from Delhi almost every night, decades ago. I wondered why as I didn't understand/appreciate then. I am now listening intently to some of the very same music that they enjoyed. Sometimes I wonder if time is relative ;)

No, it is indeed a pleasure. Hope others pitch in/correct since my raga identification skills are not that wide and they are at times not reliable.

I used to think of the radio RTP concerts that way too. Now, I can not have enough of these things. A friend of mine who had never listened to any CM at all when growing up, in his forties now, is in a state where CM completely consumes him!!
