In an article about Madurai GSMani, I learnt that he is a student of Dr .Seetharamanof Mdurai. , a musicologist of great knowledge. Since his voice did not cooperate with him., he could not shine as an outstanding performer. He used to take part in the discussions of MusicAcademy, respected for his views . I remember the very old days of the late fortiesand early fifties, as a student of Madura college Madurai. Dr. seetaraman. CSSankarasivan(guru of the legend TNS), my grandfather M.Subramania iyer, a dance and drama director, vakil Panju anna,SridharRao, a tabla player used to assemble in our house daily evening and discuss about the various aspects of music till night. I f only I had sit with them and listened to what they were discussing , I could have equipped myself with tons of knowledge. I was busy in my own way with friends in their teens discussing cricket ,OPNayyar, madanmohan, Naushad etc .
