This no popularized by maharAjapuram santhAnam and his sishya parampara is I think penned by yazhpAnam veeramani.

No , I dont think shri santhAnam rendered any rendition for any movie . My best guess is when he was the prinicipal of jaffna music college in late 60's , he had close contact with shri yazhpAnam veeramani Iyer and shri santhanam tuned lot of songs in different rAgas including this one.
