For all my agony over not having heard the great masters in live concerts , Listening to the likes of DKJ,KVN in their prime was indeed a great consolation.
I first saw him in a Spic Macay Lecdem at WCC , within a month of moving to Chennai. The newspaper ad did not elaborate what WCC stood for and I went to the hall to discover -to my horror - that it was a Womens College only after entering the small auditorium.

There were quite a few giggles flashing back and forth , But DKJ's eyes welcomed me and that made me quite comfortable..
A frequent performer at Ayodhya Mantapam , DKJ was my first experience of the majesty of a carnatic concert .
Always singing in the company of high class accompanists , his concerts never failed to move me.Since i lived close to West Mambalam then , I enjoyed so many concerts of his in that vicinity.
Though ,I always felt he was singing to please himself first.
