I heard a melodious ragamalika song '' needan thunai neelambari '' sung by Sri. Tanjore Kalyanaraman. The lyrics noted down from the song is given below for correction (most likely in line no.2, 5 and 7) Please help.

Ragamalika:

needan thunai neelambari neelakantan manohari
needayavaganai adari nirmala vasantha bhairavi
aadaramaayi ulag anaittum Andarul Gourimanohari

(needan thunai neelambari)

Arasi,

madam migu - 'proud/arrogant, filled with with pride/arrogance', rather than incensed, right?

Respected Arasi, Yes, the lyric for the Durga raga part of the song posted by you, is exactly the same as sung by Sri. TSK. I shall post the audio of the song soon in this forum.

"madamighu mahishanai mAindiDa vadam sheida
mahimaiyuTra mAyE shrI durgE "

is what sri.TSK had sung in the song.

Ravi,
'madam' means many things. In this context, yes, pride, arrogance, incensed, enraged (as in madam piDitta yAnai), mad too.

Hariharan,
Would be nice to hear the song.

Please listen to the song from the following link.

http://rapidshare.com/files/204237882/N ... _.mp3.html

This is only the song portion from the whole part of the file, that contains full raga alapanam, the song and swara vistarams.
Sri. TSK has covered all the ragas in his alapanam that are used in this ragamalika (as a ragamalika alapanam) followed by the song. He had sung swaras in the same ragamalika style, for all the ragas of this song.

If any rasika is interested, I can upload the whole file, which runs into about 20MBs.

I have heard this song in Gayathri Girish's album and found the following pronounciations -

mAtA manamagizhndaruL tara innum vAtA maraipugazh shrIranjani

maandar tam tuyar iruLai aghaTriDum mangaLa jyotisvarUpiNi
