patiki mangaLa hArati - Arabhi
nI nAma rUpamulaku (mangaLam) - saurAStram

(All Tyagaraja kritis)

An expectedly scholarly presentation from Vidushi Sowmya, sprinkled with some relatively rare compositions, e.g. nORemi. Nice to hear an alapana of bindumAlini. The aThANa kriti had several interesting sangatis in the pallavi line. The main Shankarabharanam suite was handled with aplomb, topped by the lovely Mishra Chapu tani by Vidwan Narayanan. The hall was unbearably stuffy and acoustics so-so... given its prime location, one wishes the owners would spend a bit on upkeep ( replacing that moth-eaten stage curtain would be a good start ;) )

I've heard only the Dharmavathi "Bhajana Seya". This one in Atana is new!
Most of these kritis are really rare!! Kudos to Sowmya!!

You're right!
The first time I went to that Ancient Manor was for my school culturals! My classmates were really shocked to see the hall! They thought it was some 100-year old haunted manor! You should look at the chairs. They're made of wood but are harder than diamonds!!

Vidushi Sowmya is truly right up there in terms of vidwat. She is a great torch-bearer of her guru's adherence to gimmick-free, high-quality music. Surely SK material.
