Sangeetha sivakumar has learnt from smt charumathi rAmachandran and comes from a great MLV school. This concert being a rAma navami season , shed decided to make it thematic . Thematic has its pluses ,as everyone does considerable research to present a variety of krithis but there is minus too when it is a speech enabled concert , the music takes a beating . To me this concert had more minuses than pluses

Pluses
------
1. Certainly the choice of songs spreading very evenly and giving a well rounded selection of krithis from wide range of composers.

2. Her speech is very clear , she almost spoke at the beginning of every krithi , her voice was very clear though the speech was fully in english. The audience was more of mylapOre mAmA and ageing mAmis ,so quite a lot may not have got everything , possibly she could have mixed few thamizh phrases and could have kept the audience more glued. But still job was well done .

3. Her bhairavi was a well rendered one and her manOdharmam was very good there. Also her kAmbOdhi neraval and swaras were quite charged and was very beautifully rendered

4. manOjshivA played very well for almost all songs .

Minuses
------
1. 9 out of 10 musicians would struggle to sing an uphill kAmbOdhi mA jAnaki with N and S , then following with a very expressive kharaharapriyA was a poor choice , she did not do much justice in kharaharapriyA and was not delivered quite well

2. Since the days I listened to mAmava paTTabhirAmA of vijayashiva, felt sangeetha did not get that maNirangu tranquility ,

3. Huseni and especially this yadhukulakAmbOdhi should have more emotive alankarAms

4. The violinist was little too pressing hard and the nAdham was not perfect. At most times BSP's kanjirA was drowning the vocalist voice, he needs to practice little bit of kanjirA restraint and pause.

Big Minus
---------
1. Vocal StaminA , vOcal staminA , vocal stAminA well how did Smt MLV have that in abundance and why in general many female musicians are not matching up well here nowadays, Certainly it was missing and I felt sangeetha needs to have more vocal staminA , a sound vidwath(that she has) also needs to get considerably balanced by staminA.

Overall a well researched but musically just a mediocre to good concert.

#6: kahAn kE padhEr, kahAn kInhai gamanvA (where are you coming from, and where are you going to) - is a lovely tulsidAs bhajan, where he imagines a conversation between the trio from ayOdhyA and some villagers they come across on their travels through daNDkAraNya.
