I may have missed a tukkada or two on account of having to sit in the last two rows, shushing, walking in and out as unobtrusively as possible! The accompanists were mellow and the vocal support was excellent. Much has been written about Smt.Ponnammal's dignified music for me to add any more insignificant verbiage. So I'll just say we were lucky to get to hear such music on these shores.
For it is not every day one gets to hear an exquisite Shankarabharanam and a Subbarama Dikshitar uruppadi to boot! :)

How was vinay's(rasAli) support in the violin.Every concert I am seeing atleast one brand new number from this golden girl . I have heard SSI's rendition of sAnandam beginning with kamalAmanohari in the rAgamaligA some time before , it is a terrific composition of ST.

A couple of additions to vidya's list:

Both mAnasa guruguha (Anandabhairavi) and mantriNi (hymavati) were rendered with R, S.

The last two items were: jalajabandhu/alaesaraparitApam (suraTi) and bhujagashAyinO (yadukulakAmbhOji -- mangaLam).

An amazing concert, I am glad I made it.

One more addition - There were also kalpanaswarams for the Mayamalavagaula kriti. I heard it for the first time and found it to be a very catchy and brisk composition.

Smt. Bhama shared the Shankarabharanam alapana with her teacher and sang some exquisite sangathis in the upper reaches of the ragam.

I should add that both Ponammal mami and Smt Bhama were dealing with a cold and throat issues. It is a testament to their dedication that the listeners were treated to this wonderful experience.

Great to hear that Sankaracharyam was the main. A particular favorite of mine.:)

Was privileged to attend the concert too. Very interesting to note that a very good concert was presented pretty much with a single Thyagaraja kriti only - that too not a very common kriti. Was particularly impressed with her kalpanaswaras which were rolling out in almost an auto-pilot fashion.

Shankarabaranam was excellent - loved the Kaapi javali too. Imagine how much better it would have been if she was not nursing a sore throat/cold.

Smt. Bama gave the right amount of support. Showed that she knows her guru so well - when to be subdued and when to support. Excellent rapport and memorable concert.
