I'm sorry, but I cannot fill in the mridangist's name either.
I arrived late (oh dear, making a bad habit of this) but found my favourite RS Hall seat waiting for me. I haven't seen Jayanthi play for ages, and was not so happy with some of the 'innovative' programs I have seen in the past. I still recall, however, being bowled over the first time I saw her, in London, by her technique and sound, which is quite wonderful.
I thoroughly enjoyed this concert and hope to see her again soon.
Ghatam Karthik's contribution was notable. It is unusual to be so struck by the nadam of a ghatam --- although tuned, it is not known for it's long, ringing notes. Karthik made his pot sound like a bell, with ringing sounds at appropriate moments.
