Sanskrit Verses

Hi there,
I am working on a project and I need some sanskrit verses (even one liners could do) that reflect the meanings of

1. A performer
2. A teacher
3. Dance in general

I am also looking for a verse that speaks about "ocean of knowledge".

I would greatly appreciate your contribution.

Post # 2 & 3 are jewels coming from CMLover. Bhartrihari was the king of Malwa whose capital city was Ujjain. The famous emperor Vikramaditya was the younger stepbrother of king Bhartrihari. Thank you CMLover.

Thanks! We need a few more with some interest. In fact the shlokas are ideal to be sung in ragamalika viruttams with a short explanation that will enlighten and enhance the appeal of CM among Rasikas!

can you please elaborate on what Kataka fruit is and its functionality....It could be a mythological one...it would help if you can give me a little more insight to it.

This is from the susruta Samhita -
"There are seven modes of purifying water such as, by immersing the Kataka fruits, the gems known as the Gomedha, the roots of lotus plants, or of aquatic mosses, a piece of linen, or a pearl, or a crystal in a pitcher or vessel containing it."

Another snippet I got off the omniscient googleswara -

"Many local seeds are used as natural coagulants for treating muddy water. Eg.
Kataka Seeds (Strychanos potatorum). A dos of 1.5mg of seed extract per litre
of water is used (seed extract is prepared from a thick paste of crushed seeds
with clean water). The water is stirred for 3-5 minutes after putting the
seed extract, and it is then treated with 10-15 mg/l of alum. This treatment
reduces the turbidity to safe limits."

Here are some corrections to the lyrics and the meaning:

tunbam - trouble/sorrow
ahanrida - get rid of
thunaipurivaye - protect/help
inbam - happiness
thandhidum - one who bestows
Lalithambikaiye - Goddess Lalitha

Charanam - lyrics - senkamalam thanil - red lotus
veetridum - one who resides/is seated on
Janani - another name for Goddess
pongum dhanam arulum - bestows growing prosperity
Naranan Nayaki - Lord Narayana's consort

maragatha veenai - the beautiful veena
madiyinil thulanga - one who holds a veena on her lap
siramadhil - on the head
pirai dhanai choodiya - adorned by a half moon
Vani - Saraswathi
