It is going to be very tough for rasikas to miss the rare chance of hearing Sri R K Srikantan
I was hoping to get my first experience of this musician of whom you seniors speak so highly. Whilst a change that would facilitate that would be welcome, I still remain committed to the Rasika's meet.

At that time of year, I guess that whatever we do means missing something else.

P.B.'s suggestion would enable visiting members to get both the mangoes in one shot and deserves serious consideration. Ponbhairavi.

Dear Rasikas,

The venue for our Global Rasikas meet 2010 will be at the Ramakrishna Mission School at North Usman Road.
The venue is very familiar with all the Rasikas since the December 2010 music concerts are conducted at the Mudra every year in this location.

The hall is in the first floor of the school. 100 Rasikas can be accommodated in the hall with provision of chairs, and dais. Mike set [3 mikes and one cordless mike is arranged].

Mr.Mudra Bhaskar and Mrs. Radha Bhaskar were gracious enough to bear the expenses for hiring the hall.

Respected Admin and Mods,

Kindly arrange to shift the Google format link created by Sri Music_is_life for the Rasikas to the General Discussions Heading to fill in their participation in the forth coming Global Rasikas meet.

“In order to make it little easy for Shri. Nageswaran, I have created a Google doc and providing the link below:
https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key ... FVGc&hl=en
Please RSVP here. Please make sure that you save it after you update.

Music_is_life”

Many of the Rasikas may not be aware of this format available in the midst of various letters in the Global Raskas meet thread. This format will prominently display the entire Rasikas names who will be attending our meet.

Kindly do the needful.

Dear Rasikas,

Today morning I spoke to Sri Madurai T.N.Seshagopan welcoming him to our Rasikas meet [Since an entry in the Google format as “TNS” was available [Foramite Sri C.Rama had mentioned that he is Sri Seshagopan only.].

However Sri Seshagopan has intimated me that he will always be mentioning his full name
as Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan in all his letters and not as TNS.

Sri Madurai T.N.Seshagopalan mentioned that he is not free on that day and will not be in a position to participate in the meet.

Respected Admin and Mods may please note and if possible the real name of TNS and
is he a registered member of Rasikas.Org may be intimated to our members.

Nageswaran,
Good to hear all the latest on the meet.
Your hard work and The Bhaskars being so generous is heartening. We rasikAs are keen on sharing the expenses too. I have a feeling this is going to be one of our most attended gatherings!
A post-wedding of the year celebration as it were, though the bride and groom would have flown away on their honeymoon ;)

Dear Rasikas,

I am happy to note that many Rasikas have come forward voluntarily to share the various expenses to be met for the successful conduct of the Global Rasikas meet 2010.

The anticipated expenses are listed below.

1. Expenses for providing lunch to all the Rasikas, guests, some VIPS and guest musicians. The number of people expected is estimated be around 60 Plus.
Even though Sri Vishnuprasad had agreed to bear the cost, it would be better if the expenses are shared by other member Rasikas.

2. Even though the Audio recording of our meet will be done, I feel that the Video coverage of our event is done for posterity sake.
Many of the Rasikas have Video cams and experts in videoing many events.
Should we go in for Professional Video grapher hired to cover the event.
We may have to have 2 Videograffers covering the events, one focussining on the podium and the other covering the Rasikas attending the meet.

We may have to meet the hiring charges in case we use professional Videograffers.

3. We may have to meet other sundry expenses such as the purchase of garlands [Sri VKV to decide], engaging servant maids for general cleaning etc.

4. Any other important expenses overlooked.

Considering the above factors, I feel that some form of donation can be collected from
the Rasikas who are willing to share the expenses voluntarily.

On a long term basis we may think of building a corpus fund for meeting the expenses
of our activities such as conducting monthly musical concerts under the banner “Rasayana” etc.

Respected Admin, Moderators and all Rasikas may express their suggestions.

Dear Rasikas,

Many of the Rasikas have confirmed their participation in the Global Rasikas Meet 2010
in the thread.

Subsequently the Rasika Sri Music_is_life have created a Google format {post no 188]
Where in the Rasikas were requested to fill in their attendance in the meet.

Many of the Rasikas’ participation are not included in the Google format.

I have posted the information’s in the Google format on behalf of the Rasikas. However the
Rasikas can view the entries and fill up the other columns.

This will felicitate easy head counting of the No. of Rasikas attending the meet.

Other Rasikas who will be expressing their wish to participate in our meet from now onward may fill in the Google format without fail.

My request to Admin and moderators to shift the Google format to the General discussions
Topic is still pending.

Respected Admin and Moderators, please do the needful.

Mr Nageswaran
I suggest that you start a fresh thread with all the informations (Date/Place/Time/Directions/Cost(?)/...) for the participants at the Rasika meet and include the spreadsheet by music_is_life for the participants to register to avoid any confusions.

I have created a thread for this purpose. http://www.rasikas.org/forums/viewtopic. ... 7&p=180429

It is for posting information like Data, place, time, directions, cost and other logistics related info and not for discussions.

Keep the discussions about the event to this thread. Both are sticky, so they will remain at the top.

Brothers and Sisters Rasikas,
As the programme is sheduled to start at 09-30Hrs., It is desirable that all the rasikas complete the entries in the attendance register and collect the ID cards, well in time to commence the meet, at the scheduled time. It is better to report at 08-45 Hrs and complete this process by 09-20 HRS.
I shall be reporting at 08-45 HRS.

Best Wishes for a successful meet. I regret not being able to participate due to family circumstances.I had made great plans to be present and do a mimicry of the stalwarts of yesteryears!!!. Looking at Mr.Nageswaran's meticulous planning and the response of the Rasikas from all over the World, this is going to be one of the best meetings of CM lovers in any part of the World.
The Assembly of such ardent rasikas from far and wide tempts me to suggest to the Big Institutions to entrust to Rasikas. org the task of advising the various Institutions as to WHO should be receiving what awards !! I am also sad that I would not be able to participate in the MMI centenary celibs which VKV is so diligently and sincerely planning. Like Bilahari and other rasikas who cannot attend the Meet, I am looking forward to plenty of pics, speeches and singing/demos etc.

Once again KUDOS to MR.Nageswaran for his initiative and perseverance!!!

Dear Rasikas,

24 hr countdown has started for the successful launch of the Global Rasikas Meet 2010.

The best of arrangements are in place and only the implementation is due. I don’t anticipate any hiccups.

We all should try to make it a grand successful event. The co operation from all the Rasikas will be helpful.

The areas where in I require the help are.

It will be better if all the Rasikas arrive at the venue by 08.45 to complete the formalities of filling up the participants list in the register at the reception desk.

A blank visiting card will be available at the reception desk. All Rasikas may fill up with details and wear it in their shirts on a temporary basis.

Sri Anandasangeetham will be the volunteer in the reception desk and maintain the register for signing by all Rasikas.

Sri Rama, Rasika will collect the voluntary donations from the Rasikas on behalf of the U/S.

Sri Vishnuprasad will felicitate Sri V.GOVINDAN on behalf of all the Rasikas for the “Rasika Sironmani award' from the Sangeethapriya, read sample citation poem And honour him with a shawl.

Sri Vishnuprasad will also assist the organizers during the meet.

One or two Rasikas may volunteer to guide and help the VIPs, Musicians and the Rasikas during the lunch.

I am not able to enumerate much in my last minute efforts to mention in what other activities I may require volunteers.

My earnest appeal to all the Rasikas is to consider that it is their own function And help each other and make the function a success.

Just note that VGV is honoured with the title Rasikapriya by our sister organization Sangitapriya. Some of the organizing members of Sangitapriya are also ardent members of our Rasikas.org. In fact in Kalaignar's parlance we both are the 'double-barrelled guns'for the promotion of CM globally. You may invite one of them (? Sridharan) to say a few words complementing VGV (who is the pinnacle of modesty) on the award and a few words about the commendable activities of Sangitapriya allied activities since quite a few of us are active members of both these organizations. Please take a note of the recommendations from our membership for future meets (and the possibility of hosting in other cities) which we can plan during the coming years.

Wishing the function a grand success. My heart is there. It is indeed a wonderful event and my sincere namaskarams to the organisers and aprticipants.

Awaiting the "reviews" , comments and pictures (with names). Can someone take individual photos of the rasikas with personal digital camera and upload. It will be good for future identification. May be my suggestion is coming too late. Any how all the best.

Just came home for the meet and it was indeed a great meet!

Right from Sow. Srinidhi's prayer followed my VKV's presidential speech, interactions, short concert of Sow. Srinidhi followed by Tea break, then on to introducing ourselves to the forum, every thing went very well. Every one was given their space to speak out with no rushing at all!

A great lunch completed the days meet and i had a great satisfaction of having been there to show and know faces behind our usernames!

Congrats to sri S.NAGESWARAN and one and who had taken the initiative to organise this. Thanks to all member rasikas and many of the performing artists who are also member rasikas for having team time to show up for this grand event. Hope to have these meets very often!

kssr - It did not strike me, else i would have taken my camera! great oppurtunity to have missed! However there was a group photo taken with who ever remained till the last minute and i am sure some one can tag the name of the people present in the photo for sure!

Global Rasikas Meet @mudhra on Dec 19th ,2010, part 1 of 3
----------------------------------------------------------
It was roughly a 5 hr meet. Just organizing it as seperate blocks

1. VGV's citation:
----------------------
As I entered into the hall , I was 10 to 15 minutes late , nageshwaran sir's granddaughter srinidhi sang the hindolam no. As I entered VGV's citation poetry written by punarvasu was read by Vishnuramprasad and Shri VGV was presented the award. When asked to speak VGV spoke briefly and touched with his omnipresent humility, a really fanta fabulous personality.Govindan sir attributed everything to his guru sadguru thyagarAja and recited few couplets of kambar.VGV expresses bhAvam in real bhAvam . He talked that there is a commonality of him and T in the sense both were telugu speaking thamizhnadu domicile personalities.

He specifically said T's krithis and gandhiji's autobiography are very unique in the sense they did present things in open and free way. He talked about bhAvam from bantu reeti golu as an example and talked about a krithi in shankarAbharanam where how amma means two meanings in bhAvam , one that means a crying child calling ammA and another begger begging ammA

2. eesa sridharan of sangeethapriya:
-----------------------------------
He spoke very briefly about sangeethapriya and the concerts that we upload. Certainly what appealed the most is that he profusely thanked all the co sangeethapriya contributors.

3.RAdhA bhakar of Mudhra:
----------------------------
One thing that was repeated by all of us which started with rAdhA bhaskAr is she said every day the first thing she does after checking her mails is that she is addicted to the rasikas.org .She also talked about her music appreciation programme and how she is trying to reach masses

4. Arasi - RadhikA :
------------------
At that time very briefly the MC asked few of the rasikas to come forward.Arasi being arasi talked briefly and congragulated srkris and pavithra . RadhikA of Radel talked about the information and content that comes out of rasikas.org . Incidentally she also gave a cd with selected numbers. (Radhika if you could tell the contents that would be great)

Then srinidhi's concert followed

Global Rasikas Meet @mudhra on Dec 19th ,2010, part 2 of 3
----------------------------------------------------------
5.Srinidhi@Rasikas meet on Dec 19th ,2010
-------------------------------------------
Srinidhi was assisted by R . Murali in violin and santhAnagOpalan in mrudangam. Srinidhi is getting her training from AkellA Mallikarjuna Sir.

1. erA nApai - tOdi - patnam
2. evaroora ninnuvinA (R S) - mOhanam - T
Had a brief garland break by chitravina narasimhan
3. sathguru vAchOnE?? - Ahirbhairav ?? -??
4. sathguy Anantha buLAsi ?? - janasammOdhini?? -??
5. santha saMargamana?? - sindhubhairavi -??

Brief impression:
Srinidhi is just 11 and her training with akella who is known for rhythm was quite evident with her beginning in erA nApai. Her mohanam alapana was a nice choice considering she had just less than 45 minutes to sing and she sang evaroorA very well. In particular after few avarthana swaras , she came up with reallly nice patterns in mOhanam. The percussion overall just did not gel that well or possibly the mikes were possibly not adjusted well.

I was slightly hoping that she will sung atleat one lovely tukkadas with an emphasis more on rAgas or viruththam . But she sang few bhajans or abhangs , I particularly liked the janasammOdhini , an exact replica of maharajapuram's govinda ninna nAmamE chanda. I have no idea about the tukkadas before .We did break for coffee around 12 noon or so.

6. AkellA mallikArjun Sharma Spoke:
-----------------------------------
AkellA sir spoke briefly about how he learnt violin, mridangam and how he became lecturer and principal and then finally only at the age of 60 he felt his teaching methods were not right . His Honesty just gets you straight into your heart . He built up very well but for due to lack of time he said in order to cover more I need atleast 2 hours each for swara singing and 2 hours for raga singing. Akella Sir I am interested in your 2 hours of swara singing. His speech was built up very well but just fizzled bit abruptly.

On the vidwan vidushi front we had Akella sir along with Dr narmada,Mysore nagaraj and manjunath and veteran chitravina narasimhan sir

Global Rasikas Meet @mudhra on Dec 19th ,2010, part 3 of 3
----------------------------------------------------------
7. Each Rasika of Rasikas spoke:
--------------------------------------------
The best of best happened in the last few hours where every rasika true to our spirit had a mike where he introduced himself and talked for few minutes .Those who spoke at the beginning had more time and those at the end had a tukkada time . Here is a brief for almost each of them in geographical order

From Canada and USA
--------------------
1. Vasanthakokilam
Spring cuckoo as arasi calls him spoke from the standpoint of how he is only the janitor of the forum and almost all of the decisions is decided by Ramakrishnan. He spoke that in general they take a fairly liberal approach.l VK is gifted speaker just like how he writes , a person who has to sit as an ambassador in US.He spoke wherein he said the site could be more artist friendly.

2. mahavishnnu - Ramesh Balasubramaniam
Mahavishnu spoke well , touched upon how at times some of them dont understand few things and just impulsively write . He gave an example of rhythm .

3. CACM or VKV Sir:
VKV Sir has a chembai vaidhyanAtha bhAgavathar sAreeram , he was the MC and he really did a great job . He spoke many things as he was MC but certainly in his own way very expressive personality

4. Music is life:
Music is life is from Detroit area and I forgot what he spoke.

5. Arasi:
Arasi spoke in the beginning and left bit early, wishing the new groom and bride.

The bangalore crowd was big . Some of them just came for just this

6. Cienu:
Spoke his addiction to forum and also touched upon anonymity.

7. RadhikA:
Radhika spoke before itself on the content of rasikas in general.

8. Semmu 86:
Semmu 86 was courteous to talk about the young srinidhi and talked about her mohanam mishra chApu and varnam

9. VS ManjunAth
VS ManjunAth spoke about few interesting collection of each artist like DKJ, KVN etc

From Chennai:
------------
From Chennai we had lot of speakers

10. NickH
Nick was fabulous speaker I guess mother tongue really matters to present with eloquence. He talked so well and had a great sense of humour.

11. Cool or mankuthimmA:
Cool spoke beautifully and talked in general about rasikas.org having a clearer vision . He also talked about his dearest of dear topics recording for prosterity. He also said there are many who want to take but not give back

12. RajuMds
Raju MDS highlighted there should be more focus on topics

13. Shivadasan
The senior most citizen from tiruvannamalai had the grace and blessing of ramana maharishi . He talked about in general spirituality must be experienced

14. Vishnuramprasad
VRP talked about that we have to bring in clippings of many performing youngsters and put a small cd.

15. Subramanian
This gentleman talked bit long and he was talking about posterity of recordings . Subramanian writes minimally and he was the first person to host our concert series few years back (TVRamprasadh concert in his house)

Time was running out bit too fast there and very briefly rest of us spoke

16. Uday_shankar
Uday Shankar introduced his name and spoke very minimally

17. RajeshNat
I talked very fast , I had written few points but I was pushed almost like a semmangudi dhanasri thillAnA and I spoke atleast one point where I did not repeat anything that was spoken before . I said musicians have to reach rasikas and they should come openly and post ,also I said that folks like me have a very minor effect but of late I am very happy to see in the last year and half even sabha patrons like mudhra and radha Bhaskar , PratyAksham bala and KSSR are all participating and I asked them to meet reqularly and not even call rasikas like me after reading every post and create more meritocracy. Incidentally when I spoke I did not know PB , and PB raised his hand .

18. TKB:
He talked about how rasikas can reciprocate with objective discussion when presenting a point . He took an example of how when there was a challenge about todi being played in keyboard and presented fair points

19. Ajit :
Ajit writes the same id and is the disciple of Flute Ramani. He spoke briefly his dharmasangadam to write as he is a disciple of ramani sir
Ajit is from pittsburgh, not chennai

20.Crama
Crama alias cramachandran also spoke quite well, forgot what he told.

21. PRatyAksham bAla
PratyAksham balA said at any point rasikas need not quit the forum and if few posts are not favourable and bit rough he will treat that poster just like his grandchild

22. PonBhairavi
A fabulous man the founder president of pondycheri bhairavi and hence the handle ponbhairavi . His name is rajagopAlan.

23. ANandasangeetham
A new entrant spoke forgot what he spoke

24. Ksivakumar
Forgot whether it was his id or his name . he briefly spoke

25.MuniRao:
He spoke briefly .

26. Mudhra bhaskar
After I spoke Mudhra bhaskar spoke beautifully and lamented in general about patronage . He being the organizer says rasikas have to flock sabhas then hearing in CD's and talked about poor attendance in concerts .

27. sivaramakrishnan spoke briefly cant remember what he spoke

28. vganesh spoke briefly , i forgot what he spoke

29. The last id to speak was bit of a chuckle  .He was preposterous, he was perhaps the sweetest speaker he only said his id and name

Note:
In short each of them spoke something that is most dear to them .I may have forgotten quite a few of them I am sorry , you all could add more

Conclusively:
------------------
1. Collectively 25 to 30 of us lost our visual anonymity , that too at the end we were all videographed .

2. But there is just a great camraderie that has built all for the love of music . How else you can explain folks like cienu or vSmanjunath coming from bangalore , elderly patrons like ponbhairavi/PB and shivadasan coming from pondy and tiruvannAmalai. Not to speak of few northamerican visitors

3. The meet was definitely global. If I could thank one person who championed all this it was indeed nAgeshwaran sir  with some lovely support from VKV .

4. Artists and Rasikas --> key takeaway build more rapport from this core base of rasikas, not just those who participated but also those who are as far as cmlover, punarvasu , mohan etc . Collectively there is a close to zero hypocrisy and prejudice , opinions are getting expressed with only the love of the divine carnatic music.
