This appears to be another song, not the one I requested

Just to clarify, I'm looking for lyrics/meaning of "Ghanshyam Aya Re," not for Main Nahin Makhan Khayo - the latter is merely the CD name

Is it the same song as the one below:

If yes, i can try to transcribe it.

Yes, I think it's the same song. I can't make out the male actor's singing in the video, but Subbulakshmi's words are clearly the same as the opening line of the recording I have. In that recording, I think she is singing both his and her lines from the movie. Please do transcribe it. Thanks, - K

Also, it sounds like she is singing "ghan ShyAma Aya Ri" for the second part of the 1st line instead of "ghar ShyAma AyA rI" in the recording I have...

HariKrishna - here are a few corrections to the lyrics that krishnaa posted with the meaning:
pallavi
ghanaSyAm AyA rI mErE/hamArE ghar SyAm AyA rI

Hark (rI)! The deeply (ghan) dark one (SyAm) has come (AyA)! The dark one (SyAm) has come to my/our (mErE/hamArE) house (ghar)!

caraNam 1
adhar par hai gAn usakE hAth mein muralI
pushp veNI gUnth kar upahAr lAyA rI (ghanSyAm AyA rI...)

There is a song (gAn) on (par) his (uskE) lips (adhar), and a flute (murlI) in (mein) his hands (hAth). He has brought (lAyA) a gift (uphAra) of flowers (pushp) strung together (gUnth kar) in a braid/rope (vENi).

caraNam 2
lAj ghUnghaT me chipi hUn milan belA mein
mAn ab kaise karUn manhAr lAyA rI (ghanSyAm AyA rI...)

At this time (bElA) of our meeting (milan) I find myself hidden (chhipi hUn) in a veil (ghUnghaT) of my own shyness (lAj). Now (ab), how (kaisE) am I going to get him to understand (mAn karUn), seeing as he has brought (lAyA) something that has captured my mind (manhAr)?

caraNam 3
nUpurOn mein gIt bhar vO ThumaktA AyA
nayan cupkE mUnd kar mujhkO rijhAyA rI
rAs racne ko mujhe taiyAr kartA hai piyA
nirakhtA mujhkO nirantar nayan bhartA hai
varamAl lAyA rI mErE ghar SyAm AyA rI (ghanSyAm AyA rI...)

Filling (bhar) his anklets (nUpurOn) with (mein) music (gIt), he (vO) came (AyA) dancing (ThumaktA). Closing my eyes (nayan cupkE), he smelled (mUndkar) the flowers and was charming (rijhAyA) to me (mujhkO). My beloved (piyA) gets me (mujhE) ready (taiyyAr kartA hai) for the ras (rAs racnE kO). He looks/gazes (nirakhtA) at me constantly (nirantar), causing my eyes (nayan) to fill up (bhartA hai). The dark one (SyAm) has come to my house, and has brought (lAyA) a bridal (var) garland (mAl) with him!

When both Smt. MSS and Sri Nagayya sing the pallavi, they use 'hamArE' (our) and when Smt. MSS sings it alone, she uses 'mErE' (my).

When Ghanshyamdas Birla visited the Kalki Gardens, there was a chamber concert. "Hamare" was used then in this context too, to welcome the guest to "our house" :)
