Dear Rasikas,

Global Rasikas Meet 2011 was conducted well.

The hero of this year’s meet is Sri M.K.Ramasubramanian with his excellent mimicry of
the legendary artists MMI, ARIYAKUDI, SEMMENGUDI, GNB, AND SG KITTAPPA.
With his innovative singing a song in English with the carnatic ragam, Pallavi etc were excellent.

SRI Sivaramakrisnan also entertained by singing like MDR.

I thank SRI Mohan for the excellent photos of the Rasikas in our meet.

Video will be ready by next week for uploading.

I am shifting my residence tomorrow to a new house so that the present house will be
Demolished and a new house is proposed to be constructed.

Hence I will not have access to the internet till Monday [26.12.2011].

I will be giving a detailed report on or after 26.12.2011.

Dear Rasikas,
I have moved to the new home and the land line and internet services have been energized.

I am expecting the Video DVDS of our Rasikas meet 2011 in another 2 days.

I have attended only the Violin duet concert of the Mysore Bros at KGS yesterday and met our forumite Sri Harikrishnan from Muscat.

The main idea of our Global Rasikas Meet was to know other forumites in person so that whenever we read a post in our thread, we can always try to remember the face of our friend.

I do know that by attending the concerts in the city now, we can identify many other forumites.

With my present health conditions, I may be able to attend one or two concerts and hope to meet a few of our forumites.

I would like to meet Bilahari, Emilija, Priyadharshini, Jayaram and afew other members.

Dear Rasikas,

2011 Global Rasikas meet Video is available in 2 DVDS. After converting to DIVX format each DVD has 4 chapters of more than 200 MB. With the limitation of 200 MB in Media fire website uploading at a time, each chapter is divided in 2 parts of around 100 MB.

The uploading takes about an hour. For the Rasikas, the download time will also be near one hour which may discourage the Rasikas to download the contents to enjoy the VIDEO.

I will be able to copy the full version of the 2 DVDs to any Rasikas available in Chennai in their external HDDs or even burn the 2 DVDs for them.

Overseas Rasikas who are still available in India also can take the copies of the DVDs in their HDDs or DVDs burned for them [Sri LAKSHMAN RAGDE, MOHAN etc].

Rasikas may contact me on my mobile 98406 26385 for their requests for the DVDs or indicate their requests in this thread.

Dear Rasikas,

Our Rasika member Emilija [To be pronounced as Emilia] from Slovenia was very eager to participate in our Global Rasikas Meet 2011. She had confirmed her participation in the thread also. In the last minute, she had informed that she is not in the position to participate in our meet.

Before the Thyagaraja Aradhana at Tiruvaiyyaru, Miss Emilija had made en enquiry as to how to reach Tiruvaiyyaru and other lodging facility etc in the thread.
Then I knew that she is still in India.

Since she is a fan of Chitra Veena Ravikiran, I contacted him [out of station] and his wife answered the call. I collected the mobile NO. of Miss Emilija at Tiruvaiyyaru and expressed my wish to meet her.

Miss Emilija visited my home at my new residence on 14.01.2012 and we talked about many topics.

She had brought her HDD as per my request and I have copied our Global Rasikas meet 2010 and 2011 and one or 2 Rasikas forum concerts and Gilles Apap Documentary.

While randomly viewing the 2010 meet, she was able to identify UdayShankar. It transpired that Sri Uday is also learning from Sri Ravikaran [and also Emilija].

Good pictures of Emilija with your family. I met the nice young woman briefly after her guru's concert at MA.
She has written about CM in Slovenia when Ravikiran and Gurucharan have performed there in the past two years.

Arasi Madam,

MKR's mimicry is in DIVX format.

Even with converting to DVIX [Compression], each chapter is more than 200 MB and there is a limit of maximum 200 MB
can be uploaded in Media fire. Hence I had to convert the Video to DVIX and again split it to get less than 200 MB.

DVIX software is a free downloadable software.

You can see the Video in DVIX once the software is downloaded and installed.

Great performance! Wanted to 'see' you perform, but just hearing it brought mental pictures of the great vidvAns! I lived my moments of nostalgia through your studied (over the years) sketches of their fine singing. Your singing ability shouldn't be under-estimated in what you call mimicry. Then again, imitation is the best form of admiration

Oh! I revealed one of my "secret" identities!

I cannot cop with video, and its many, many different formats --- but audio is much easier, and, as it happens, extracting the audio from a video is quite easy.

But all this is insignificant --- compared to the experience of having actually been there

I fully agree. I can not think of a different word, mimicry by official definition is probably OK, but given its comedic association, it does not quite fit. Anyway, what is in a name, we now know what MKR does, and he does it very well!!
