New award for carnatic music

Good going, VK!
I read the new thread you have started. It makes a lot of sense--that many rasikAs care, and can do what they can for a particular deserving family by sponsoring a drive, by contributing to it and encouraging others too to lend a helping hand. If it's going to be an annual thing, could we have a closing date for the sponsoring and then the rest can choose to contribute to the families (famiy) they think need (s) the help most? As you say, this is the fast lane for us to take, in realizing our intent.

The other awards are not that important, in my view. Many deserving musicians do get recognized by other sabhas. One less isn't going to make a difference. We are not keen on corporate sponsors either because we as rasikAs want the freedom of just being rasikAs and not
become organizers who need to abide by the conditions the companies may spell out. If we do, we will be another award, another empty ceremony with mikes, videos, shawls and photos of the event.
Just my thoughts...

It's just as well that Rasikas.org merely provides the platform for a good cause, and nothing more.
And that's plenty!
