Certainly wasn't the case when I was dealing with copyrights. All other things being equal (eg you are not doing so as an employee, or under contract in which you give up the copyright): you write something, you own the copyright in it, there and then. It applies to the letter you just wrote to your cousin; it applies to the learned manuscript on Wedding food that you just sent off to the publisher.Isn't a claim of copyright void unless a copy is deposited with the copyright office along with a claimed copyright? That is the case for printed material

Visiting the forum after a long time. Sorry to find that a post of mine created a needless ruckus... I had wanted to say, "I would also add a word of caution TO the person who uploaded..." Mea culpa! :-Qkamavardhani wrote:This particular venue, its late lamented founder and the present management have somehow acquired a sacred reputation... some sort of holy cow status that must never be questioned or attacked. Artistes and organizers, if you can catch them unguarded, will have lots of contrary tales to tell.I would also add a word of caution about the person who uploaded the recording on the file sharing site...

Feel your post was unfortunate on other counts too.kamavardhani wrote: Sorry to find that a post of mine created a needless ruckus...
Correct. Ragaa Sudha & Nada Inbam are now institutions of sorts, their service spanning multiple generations. This particular venue, its late lamented founder and the present management have somehow acquired a sacred reputation
If you (or anyone else) have a legitimate grouse, I am sure it will be addressed if brought up politely. For starters, you can refer to people using their names with respect.some sort of holy cow status that must never be questioned or attacked.
People with time in their hands tend to do that, especially when they find an audience. I wouldn't put too much stock on it.Artistes and organizers, if you can catch them unguarded, will have lots of contrary tales to tell.![]()
