mnsriram, excellent rendetion. very much satisfied. Thanks. Your aalapana in the beginning was great.
You used 3 namo's, perhaps to accomodate taalam.
The small aalapana after nigamagochara was excellent and repetetive singing of dinarakshaka completely
presented the essense of song. Your pronounciation was very good except for vaaridhi (vaaradhi).
Thanks. If you have more of these rendetions of sri voleti, please post. I will surely download and listen.
Kalavati is indeed sweet, great and melodious. With my knowledge, mention of kalavati, reminds only one artist. Prabha Atre for her tanaa-manaa.

My fault and apologies. I stand corrected. Varidhi is ocean and Vishnu sleeps on it (Paala Kadali=milk ocean). Varidhi is correct in this context.mnsriram wrote:Thanks hsuvarna. Please see the meaning above.
vAridhi sayana - one who reclines in the ocean
I don't have the recording with me now but I am sure I heard it as vAridhi. Also, vAradhi means bridge. I may be wrong but I am not sure if that would fit in.

There are 3 kalAvatis:Suji Ram wrote:Sriram, mnsriram wrote:Thanks Suji. To be honest I do not know the differences. I have only heard people use these interchageably.
I heard the lecdem on kalAvati by Prof SRJ and he talks about Dikshitar's composition kalAvatI kamalAsana yuvati.
You will notice how different it is.
Tyagaraja's version (okapAri, and one more kriti) - a janya of chakravAka
MD's version (kalAvati kamalAsana yuvati) - 31st asampoorNa mELa
the 3rd variety: I have heard people using kalAvati for valaji,( for it is the hindustAni equivalent) when there are more dATu prayOgas skipping Da. Even though by definition kalAvati skips Ri and Ma , sometimes lighter compositions (hindustani) it can have limited use of Rishabha also. Coolkarni/hsuvarna/rshankar etc can clarify.

Sorry for being late to this.
Rajani's translation is, as usual, very helpful to non-telugu's like me
Here is Malladi B's Version. (the second song of this upload). The raga, I think, Kalavathi looks like janasammodhini. Is there any relation ?

I could hear few differences in the wordings in "bhanu shasi nayana" and "gunamaya". Just want to confirm which is correct. Malladi Bs, being good, in Telugu, wondering which is correct.
