Very nice...thank you Smt. Savitri. It's interesting to note that by the time this was composed, the Hindi word gADi had become accepted in the south...enough to refer to pArthasArathi as gADikAra! Unless, I have the composers mixed up....

I looked up the entry for gADi in the Kannada sahitya PariSad lexicon. Beside gADi = vehicle, of perso-arabic origin, it also gives binnAna, beDagu, mODi; and suggests gAruDi/ gAraDi as the source of the term.

Hence gAdikAra could translate to mAyakkAran / mAyA-mAnusha. Could this may be a more appropriate interpretation of the term in its current context?
