I just googled to check C F School stands for Cordite Factory school. Aravankadu is near ooty where there is military establishment. Some Balasubramanian then way back in 1953 was even interested giving an overall mediocre opinion. I suspect the prince of carnatic music had a sudden sore throat due to change in temperature.

Well, I believe in "puranamithyeva na sadhu sarvam..." which translates to nothing becomes right just because it is ancient/old.
Why couldn't the "prince" of carnatic not have an off day in the office? Happens to the greatest people - it is human and in fact, to me, that is the beauty of any creative art form - right?

My family in Trivandrum used to recollect so many concerts of the greats in the 40s through 60s which went from mediocre to genius - and that included all the greats including ARI, MVI, SSI....

- PP.

I am with you on that entirely. Infact every artist irrespective of the era will have off days-but how they manage their off days without much depreciation of quality is the key.

What is the purpose of the original post. Is it to tell that GNB had a mediocre concert on a particular day. If there are other details like accompanists, list of songs, pallavi etc, it is a valid post.

May be to remind the fact that even legends of yesteryears too had 'off' days or so so performance,
and we should not frown upon current Gen if they fail once in a while.

No purpose at all ! I was browsing through the diary of a long gone person and I saw a one line "review" of a katcheri that took place more than 60 years ago in a distant place, not a usual Katcheri venue. Since the information is authentic and unusual, just for fun I decided to post it here. Fun is the operative word.

Imagine Thyagaraja teaching a brand new krithi in some vivadi janyam to his disciples and one of them thinks to himself "dude this is not that appealing - I bet this will not even pass on to the next generation"
