I really enjoy watching Kittappa Pillai's style. The periya theermanas especially have this thoroughness, and in general a lot of the adavus are done at a normal pace with emphasis on completion rather than speed.
Does anyone know the name of this Varnam?

An unforgettable composition, vazhi maraittirukkudE malaipOlE oru mADu paDuttirukkudE by GKB...
Performed by Ranee Ramasamy, disciple of Guru Alarmel Valli.
Don't know if this was presented here already - but the video is artfully done using "triptych graphic design -- the center panel showing close up, superimposed views, and the side panels showing a full body shot.."
The dance is engaging, abhinaya especially.

Another complimenting couple here Shijith Nambiyar and Parvathy
Can someone identify the song, composer here - lyrics too, if possible :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfywRGsc ... re=related
This, I found particularly expressive and absorbing - no clue about the song - with the inaudible video.

Here's another Ardhanariswar Stotram danced by one of my favorite Odissi dancers, Arushi Mudgal, niece of the famous Madhavi Mudgal (I think?).
http://video.webindia123.com/dance/odis ... /index.htm
Its 20 minutes long, but so worth it! Her subtle expressions really amazed me.

I wonder if new padams could be composed, from a man's point of view. Maybe one about a guy complaining to a god asking him why he keeps seducing/enchanting all the woman and feeling that he can't compare at all to the god.

the speaker is a highly controversial professor of history who authored a book recently called The Hindus: An Alternative History which supposedly exploits hindu history from a sex-oriented perspective. There are many detailed and fierce rebuttals to her interpretations some of which can be found here:

Kannan mananilaiyai thangame thangam by Ms. Roja Kannan at Parasah's 40th show..!! Vocals Ms.Nandini Anand Sharma and nattuvangam by Ms.T.N.Saranya..
Parasah is a team of 4 - Ms. Roja Kannan, Ms. Priya Murle, Mr.Srikanth and Ms.Aswathy Srikanth. Watch out for their new production "Prapthi Marga" this season..!
"Prapthi Marga: Path of Complete Surrender' (Bharat Kalachar, December 13) which has Vaishnavite connotations. The profound theme is explained using three characters – Andal (Ashwati), Meera (Priya Murle) and Draupadi (myself). Srikanth will be the sutradhar. For my character, we have drawn heavily from Villibharatham and Dasarnama, besides Bharatiar." - Ms. Roja Kannan as said in http://www.thehindu.com/arts/dance/article923726.ece

Aniruddha Knight's dancing is slowing growing on me. I really love this varnam, Danike. It's a pity no one really dances it anymore.

I am reviving this thread with a beautiful subtle presentation of tattai maozhiyAL oru peN (a long-time favorite of mine) with soulful singing and an all-in-all exquisite capture of kalyANi: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdQNjcfJOw8
This is specifically for VK, who brought this padam up in this thread....

Ravi, I am joining the fan club of this thathai mozhiyAL oru peN song. It is quite addictive
I think it is that bright manner in which it starts and that emphasis at 'peN' followed by a little stop is quite unusual that gets my attention. I am now seeking out other renditions.
The one I listened to first is also very good. http://mio.to/yBRZX by Subhashini Parthasarathy. Her emphasis and stop at 'peN' is even more pronounced.

Corrections based on the version used by Professor Sudharani Raghupathi. The entire caraNam seems different, and it is in the caraNam that Smt. Sudharani's skill is so evident.
