The only thing more jarring to the ear than apaswaram is the mispronunciation of words by the Natives. Today’s word is “Luzâ€

Though not as entertaining and nice as that of the review above.

a more mundane review of the same concert is found here:

Wish "The Hindu" hired you to write those reviews in Friday review. I would keep refreshing the Hindu site every Friday early morning eagerly waiting for the review(s) to appear !!!

747 - nice review. I don't agree with the comment about Luz though. There are several words used by us borrowed from various sources - and we don't pronounce them in exactly their original forms. So why pick on 'Luz'?
Besides 'Loose corner' would sound a bit whacky! (pardon the pun, enna puNNa! :))

Blowhard,
You are indeed a man after my own heart - but before we get to split hairs between loosers and luzers, we should try and get people to pronounce their native words appropriately before traveling half way across the world to Europe....

A great review - I hope you get to attend concerts frequently, and more importantly, share your thoughts with us....

The line below from the original post seems to suggest the two 747s may be the same...

The portuguese( or french? ) pronounciation of Luz is closer to 'leuse' than 'loose'... listen here carefully for an example in context:

http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/audio.pl?ggs ... ean-de-Luz

( In both Portuguse and Spanish luz means light. Here is the background on the origin of Luz Church in Chennai: http://www.chennaionline.com/toursntrav ... church.asp )

If you tell this way to an auto driver, there is better than even chance he will take you to Kilpauk :P rather than your intended destination.
